GY401 Gyro problem
Lately when I power on the heli, once the gyro initializes. the tail rotor blades will move to the left rather than centering. I've found that if I shut down the power and restart it will then center normally....but not consistently. I've checked connections for the rudder and rate switch and even sprayed a little Dioxid contact cleaner on the those connectors.

I'm using an AR6200 receiver with a DX6i.

Any thoughts or advise?

You've definitely got a noob!

It's the same in either rate mode or HH.

After fooling with it quite a bit I think it might simply come down to what initializes first, the rx or the gyro.

If the gyro initializes first, causing the tail to show pitch, then simply shut the heli off and restart.

Sorry if you'all know this already but.....
the 401 MUST initialize in HH mode for it to work properly.... ie, LED is solid red after it initializes....

If it's flashing red, it did not initialize in HH mode and must be reset.
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I had the same issue using an old Spectrum receiver, one of the original ones. It is slow to initialize, and the 401 would initialize before the receiver. What I had to do was turn it on, let everything initialize, then turn it off, then right back on again. Then the receiver would initialize before the gyro, and I was OK.

How old is your receiver? Mine was the one that came with the radio back when I first bought it, when Spectrum first came out.

This one is an AR6200. Not sure of the age as I came with the heli as part of a package when bought it used.

So far restarting the heli seems to be the only answer. As long as that keeps working I suppose that's the best work around.
