Binding with 3gx v2.1
I recently purchased my first Flybarless heli, the TRex 700e DFC and am going through the 3gx setup.

I am stumped on one part, The instructions say to set the aileron and elevator travel limit to prevent binding with the pitch at 0 degrees which I have done. I shutdown and do a clean power up, and I have binding at full negative pitch and full positive on all three servo's, the elevator linkage hits the anti-rotation bracket at full positive and full forward elevator, and it hits the top of the tail boom mount at full negative and full back elevator.
The pitch and aileron linkage hit the servo with negative pitch and full aileron and they hit the main shaft block with full positive pitch and full aileron and some negative elevator.

Is this normal? Or did I miss something in the setup?

Please No remarks about buying a different FBL unit. I have confidence that the 3gx will work just fine for me when setup correctly. I have seen how well it works.

Thanks
Rick

Where are your travel limit numbers? Are you adjusting in the software?

The balls are mounted on the outer holes of the Align Aluminium servo arms.

I travel limit numbers are all default 100, adjusted the limits with the 3gx with the pitch at 0 degrees as stated in the manual.

Thanks

Did you set the values in your swash menu so you have 12 degrees collective pitch and 8 degrees cyclic pitch in DIR mode?

Give us a measurement from center of the serve wheel to the center of the ball. Also, what are your values In the swash menu? My first guess is the balls are mounted to far out and the 3gx is losing resolution.R.I.P. Roman

Measurements aren't a problem the balls are suppose to be on the outer hole on the arm. What value travel limit do you have in the 3gx software? You have to remember the travel you see on the bench won't be nearly as much as in flight just the same as the tail gyro. You shouldn't have any problem mine binds in the corners

Thats kind of what I thought but since I am new to FBL I wanted to make sure.

After I get home from picking up my new batteries at Thunderpower I will post the swash menu values.

Thanks Guys

Mine binds in the extream corners. I have reduced limits from 70 to 65 it still binds. I'm really not consirened I never fly with the sticks in the extream corners. You could put a stick on circle stick limiter on your cyclic if you can't stay out of the corners.Thunderbirds Rock and Roar

I got busy and forgot to post the numbers, I will try to remember tonight when I get home.

I do have a circle stick limiter on my TX and it still binds.

I had someone explain to me that the FBL controller on the bench will continue to try complete the command given to it. You give it elevator and since it is not flying it will continue adding more and more elevator until it binds. This would not happen in the air as the heli would respond to the command. I am not sure this is in fact how it works for sure but it still concerns me that there is a possibility of binding. I had one of the links pop off due to the binding on the bench.

I finally got my swash settings

AILE = 51%
Elev = 51%
Pit = 41%

This give me in DIR Mode: +- 8 degrees of Aile and Elev and +- 12 degrees of Pitch.

Same here, almost identical settings, yet the servos will bind in cyclic corners.

Ail and ele pitch are 13, yet in the corners are 16deg!!

Seems like a bug in the way 3gx calculates swash ring. Didn't translate correctly between 90deg inputs to 120deg outputs.

I had Danny Szabo look it over an perform the first flight on it. The only problem I could find is it would not fly the same for me as it did just moments before when Danny was flying?

Other than that and some minor radio adjustments it was fine. Alan Jr. Said it would never bind in flight if it did not bind in the DIR setup with the 8 degrees.

Thanks for everyones help
