I admire the skills it takes to fly 3D and I don't have them.

That said, I love watching a heli that looks like it's full scale counterpart and flies like it. It's harder to do that one would think.

I fly sport, or as some define, 2D. Back and fourth, some figure 8's, left to right and right to left loops, flips, & rolls. Then I hover.

Boring to most but I am still flying and still have a BLAST and love meeting new people & making new friends.

"3D-Free" here also. I can't even hover upside down. But my goals are a lot less ambitious than that anyway, namely I'm still just getting used to side-in. Tail-in I'm most comfortable, nose-in is my next most comfortable, but things still can get dicey with side-in.

I've also got the curious problem that I can only do autos nose-in. Probably because I'm so used to doing approaches nose-in (I can actually get goofed up bringing the heli in tail-in).

I can kind of fly around without a crash, most of the time, but when I do finally drill it in, it's violent enough that I virtually always completely destroy the machine. So I have to enjoy it while I got it, and be prepared to let er go to the great helipad in the sky when I kill er...

Aileron rolls and -ish loops I can do as long as I"m high enough off the ground.

I now fly exclusively with very low headspeeds and power, so collective management is a must. So I spend a lot of time learning to deal with collective and power as a very precious resource .

3D interests me not at all....

I fly normal as well. I love large loops and smooth banked turns. I am still working on my inverted flight, loops banked turns, ect.. I can fly the hell out of the sim inverted but the real thing is a lot different. It takes 3 times the concentration to fly at my field with a lot of people standing around watching you.

After I master inverted flight I will start some smooth 3D, but this is a ways off for me. I do like rainbows and an occasional tick tock.

I have mastered one thing very well. that’s learning to crash without destroying my heli. It’s a necessity in this hobby. Servo failures, motor shutoffs, the list of things that can go wrong is endless and when your times comes, you better know how to minimize the damage.
