Thanks for those links - pictures always helpful.

And yes, fuel filter used in bottle and also inline before carb!

Dr.Ben

What preservation oil do you recommend? I use this stuff,

And what method do you recommend for applying it? Through carb or backplate etc?

Should I use fine wet and dry to remove the rust on the crank?

I will get it all back together and start again.

Again guys, thanks for all your help..

Ray,

Clean up the crank with fine steel wool and wash thoroughly with soap and water afterwards.

That's the oil to use. If the crank did that even with its use, use more. You can put it in through the glow plug hole, but the very best way is through the back plate.

IN addition to the after-run oil you're using, be sure to run the motor dry before you put it away. Pinch off the fuel line and let it idle to a halt, otherwise you're leaving raw fuel inside. The alcohol is great at picking up moisture from the atmosphere and leaving it behind when the volatile stuff evaporates.

Then add your oil.
