Motor Drive Belt Stripping (3 -times) Help!
I'm running a Scorpion 4530-560 HK-III with the kontronik Jive 120 HV.
I stripped 3 belts in a row; only getting 3 to 4 flights on each.

This last belt I was going to tighten the belt after break-in, but it was already stripped again on the 3rd flight.

The the second and third belts I applied more tension than just the springs alone.

Would I have better luck with the Quantum motor?

Otherwise she flies great.

I run my belts tight. Just tighten the belt to where there is no slack and tighten. I don't use the springs at all. I have the Quantum motor as well. Btw did you check and make sure your motor shaft is not slipping in the motor can?Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

I'm using a minature 3" long 8mm wrench to tighten motor mount adjustment bolts. I may not be tightening them enough.

I'm trying a new belt today with with use a full size socket driver and 8mm socket. Got the nuts much tighter. If this does not work will check pulley and teeth for problems.

After 1 or 2 flights re-adjust adding extra tension as the springs do not provide enough tension, I had the same problem and this fixed my stripping issues.

doent take much, so i wouldn't think that would be a problem , as long as nuts aren't loose.

After looking closer the main drive belt is crawling up the pulley that drives the pinion. It then touches the side frame and strips.

I've tried moving motor pinion flush and then moved it down; either way the belt crawls up the pulley that drive the main gear.

Any ideas? I'm going to order more belts and also replace the pulley that drives main gear.

Question, on other Goblins how much clearance do you have between the top of the belt and the side frame?

If it is crawling, you have something installed improperly or something loose. It should never crawl up or down.Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

when belts crawl up or down its usual the two shafts aren't aligned with each other. sounds like the angel of one of your shafts is off.

also check make sure your bearings in your motor are good, if they are out that can change the angel of the motor shaft.

Problem solved. Lowered pinion further and got belt to track correctly.
