Main grips on DFC head very tight when I tighten feathering shaft bolts
I am trying to assemble my DFC head and either I am missing something or something isn't right. The only thing I can see is in most cases, there should be a spacer between the two main bearings in each grip but there isn't any. Everything is assembled exactly like the picture in the upgrade kit instructions.
Thrust bearings are installed with the small ID to the outside. The brass washer with the big ID is installed between the inner washer of the thrust bearing and the outer bearing and the small aluminum spacer is between the damper and the inner bearing.
I have taken this apart and reassembled it about 5 times now but nothing changes!

Got it!! I had originally bought the old style feathering shaft and was using the aluminum spacers from it. They are almost double the length of the ones used on the 450 Pro and Sport. I never checked that when I got the correct feathering shaft in today. I just pushed one shaft out of the baggie and started assembly. Now it is almost too loose on the head as I can feel the shaft has just a hair of end play. This is intended to go on my very old 450S frame. I am about to find out if the DFC main shaft is compatible with the old frame set. I'm guessing Not.
