This should give you the basic idea (of what will likely go wrong):

Watch at YouTube

I'd say better to just go crash it in an actual flight. You'll still lose the heli, but outdoors where it's safer and you'll at least get to see it get off the ground kind of...

That 47 was hard mounted. Ground Resonance was it's demise. I have loosely held down nitro's to full power with no issue. His rig, albeit flimsy would absorb any vibes created.Century Hawk Sport, OS .32, Futaba 7C, GY-601 9251

yes it should work in theory but man just go buy a sim for crying out loud if your worried about setup just spool up to 30% th with no blades and check your tail

this is why we need to push the mentor program a lot more here ..
no babe i swear i sold my other heli to buy this one :)

Ok, it's ya'lls helis... Just stand back, way way back, when you try it, is all I'll say....

And I agree with just getting a sim. Also much cheaper than a heli and doctor bills....

I am going to build one like the pink Shorts guy to practice Nose-In Hovering with my Stratus... Cuz I would crash if I was trying out at the field.

You are going to crash... It makes you a better pilot and mechanic.

i thought about making something like this when i first started. i learned that good set up (take the time to assemble your heli right ! ) and plenty of sim time make all the difference.

these hold the heli and DO NOT let you learn how to keep it steady.

if you know how to really set your bird up you wont even have crazy spins with a backwards gyro...

just my thoughts on it...
My crashes are cooler than your flying! ;^)

A Whiteman type stand would be the ticket. If you got rid of the hydraulic damper and just use a counter weight for the heli you're using.

The second stand did look interesting. At least to help someone get pass the intimidation factor. The setup actually reminds me of the hovering training on the phoenix sim. It is basically the same concept. As an idea, you can mount it from the ceiling and practice inverted fight as well.

The chinook shaking apart like that was pretty freaky. Aircraft look so strong until you seem them in pieces.

The last Funfly I saw a guy with a properly set-up Blade 450 learning to hover. No training gear even. He was doing fine until the heavy wind got him. He had spent time on a sim and his friends made sure the bird was straight, level, and true - that's it. I barely survived being a Newbie because I hadn't met anyone anal about set-up until I had struggled and crashed a bunch. As soon as I learned to build right, I learned to hover very quickly - no need for training gear. A little sim time and I could move around and point the bird in my direction witout freaking out.
These videos are about making a mechanical simulators. I agree with others... get the computer one that does a whole lot more for a whole lot less. Did anyone build their first car before learning to drive anything with 4 wheels? 99% of you will say "Hell No." We all got into a properly working vehicle, of some kind. It's just my 2 cents here - not hating on creativity. I have a problem with driving 15 miles into a major shopping area just so I can save 10 Cents a gallon also.

K, maybe you need a little more convincing, here's a good Darwin Award candidate that should be more persuasive:

Well there's one guy who did run his full up to a complete explosion in his garage. A 600 or something strapped down to a table, it's really a sight to see when it finally lets go at full song. it's on youtube somewhere but I can't seem to find it now.

Basically, strapping a heli down to a table, stand or etc puts you squarely in good ol' Darwin Award territory...

Just go fly it, don't strap it down!

That was wicked watching it fly apart. That is a good reason why it is bad to use plastic head on bigger heli's. Yea, WC can take a permanent time out from here as far as I am concerned.Trex 700E / Trex 500 ESP - Ikon/ HD 500 - Ikon 2/ Goblin 500 Ikon 2
