YS 56 issues
ok i had a hot start and the engine took in alot of the liner through the carb. (black fuel was dripping out the backplate nipple) so i disassembled and sent to YS. they installed new rod and ring, bench tested and shipped it back. now when i try to lift off the ground it goes lean on me. i first pulled the needles and turned the engine till fuel flowed out the needles. reinstaled and test flight when good. (needles are fat for breakin) next flight engine went lean... i took the carb off and in the diaphram found a big piece of white something. removed it put back togeather and thought for sure this was gonna run now. NOPE!! still leaning out. hardly any pressure when i released it. the plumbing is good. i presurized all my lines/tank and it held pressure solid till i released it an hr later. what gives?

Check valve has to be in the right way. The system held pressure for an hour.

Regardless of how long the system held pressure, you stated:
hardly any pressure when i released it
That goes back to the other post about making sure your check valve is correctly installed, and WORKING correctly.

dkshema, when i said theres was hardly any pressure that was after a flight. not while i was testing the tubing/tanks... when i released the the pressure after testing the tank it held for an hr and was a big pssssshhhh of air released. sry if i worded it wrong.TT X50 Nitro

Could the nipple in the back plate be leaking?

Well, little pressure after a flight would be a good indication that you have a leak somewhere, or your check valve isn't happy. So perhaps you really need to go back and make sure your check valve and the rest of the tank is intact.

I just took the clunk lines out and they are fine but for sake of knowing they are being replaced.
I did speek with rich at ys and what im gonna do is put that motor in my other heli and see what happens. That will tell me if its the heli or the motor. If its still acting up ys said to send it back... i just want this motor to work.

John,
When you take the pipe off, look at the ring..If its shiny, that could be your problem..Shiny ring won't put out good compression along with crank case pressure..If you don't have enough crank case pressure due to a bad ring, you won't have good fuel pressure. The motor will run lean/like crap ..
Just something else to look at..

Lon, engine has new liner, bearing, piston, ring and rod. Ys replaced the ring n rod at their shop and bench tested it... every time its gone high motor i was quick to throttle hold n land it. That doesnt mean its not shot so i will def look.

Thanks for all the help. Any more ideas keep em comn but what else could there be?

Yup,the whole motor was rebuilt but this is the biggest thing that sucks about YS-->It only takes a few lean runs to trash the ring or a few short lean runs..Im not saying yours is trashed but its just something to look at so its checked off the list..One good lean run or a few small ones is like running 15 or so gallns of fuel through the engine..Thats why I run all my motors a little rich..Might loose a tiny bit of power but the motor will make it hundreds of flights..Man I need to stop and go to bet,2hrs of sleep is killing me lol..TTYL and I hope you get it running right,,

BTW,
Your more than welcome to call me and i'll check it out if you want..
