Is your fan an old one? And, what color are the dampeners?

Just lube them with dish soap or a little Tri-Flow oil. Push them in with the flat side of a screwdriver, make sure they are flush with the top of the fan. Make sure you have the "x" mark up.DaveDavison,GasGob,WhiplashGas,Spectra,JRXG11MV,12X

I asked that because my first experience with MA was with a first generation stratus and I could not get the dampeners in. Turned out that The grey dampeners were not meant for the newer fan. The black should go in with some lube just as ddavison said.
