My new cheapo pen sized microscope (digital)
Just playing around with my $35 endoscope (that's what it's called ???)
Really does good for a cheapo.

Dime edge looks like worn gear

Dime at less power.

Here is a photo of "it".
I will be back and edit this to let you know where. It was Ebay, but I'll get the specific one for you.
Paul

EDIT:
Here is the link to where I bought on Ebay. $9.99 plus $13.50 shipping, from China, of course.\

http://www.ebay.com/itm/23082185723...9#ht_4250wt_882
It has built in illumination which works great because at max magnification the barrel is right down on the subject blocking all external illumination. At first very difficult to hold with hand at high magnification but a little practice and it becomes easy.
Just click with mouse and it saves a jpg copy.

Well ? My Old one was called a Optical Comparator and it took a truck to move it.

But then we got into electron microscopy - and that was very cool

For the Money : Every O.S> Engine sold - should come with one

NICE !!!

Too funny - I came across that same microscope on Ebay and purchased one for myself! hahaha ...my wife just shook her head when she saw my purchase.

Post your "enlarged" pics and we'll try and guess what it is!

Fun for hobby, but....
I actually use a similar one to use as an endoscope. With young kids I inspect their ears myself before rushing out to hand over a copay to a doctor. I can head off a major ear infection early by finding the signs of the infection at home. Proper bed times, fluids, and allergy medicine suggested by the doctor has thwarted at least a dozen infections.

The investment paid for itself and saved unnessesary pain, suffering, and time out of school and off of work.

FYI, i was very cautious with taking over this role of physician. I did inspections and took them to the doctor anyways early on. As I verified my findings with the doctor I realized my inspections and analysis was spot on every time.

We were one more infection away from getting tubes for my oldest daughter. The home checkups prevented this.
Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

You asked for some heli parts. Here is a tiny gear from a HS-65HB servo.
This gear measures 4.30 mm diameter from top of tooth to opposite other side top of tooth.
Near max magnification of gear

.
Same gear at lesser power next to ball point pen

.
.
Maximum power of gear edge.

.
.
This is a small plastic gear, but at this power it looks like a rough casting.

Very cool Gyro, maybe you could try to get some insect parts-- like a fly's eyeball or a spiders face, a small creature enlarged often looks like a "terrible Monster"
