Liberals in the country want gun control, Democrats don't.
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: The problem for [Joe] Lieberman is the gun lobby is the majority of the American people. It's not a lobby that is stopping all of this. The reason that the lobby is strong is because it represents overwhelming opinion in the United States. How do we know that? The president of the United States, who had this tremendous opening if he wanted to push the use of guns after a tragedy of this magnitude could easily have done it and he has assiduously stayed away because he knows it's a losing political proposition.

Liberals in the country want gun control, Democrats don't. They normally overlap, but not on this. Democrats will not go near it because of the experience as we heard earlier about 1994, and they don't want to repeat that again. We're at the height of an election and they won't go near it. You're going to have discussion on talk shows and none in Congress and nothing will happen in terms of legislation.

This is why if the so called UN so called gun control issue is signed on to by our so called prez, and its actually does affect private ownership of guns in the USA, it will finish him for the election in November and will make sure Hillary never gets a chance to run for the same office.

Don't matter if the UN gun ban makes no difference in the USA.

BTW - unless the Senate (which is one part of Congress) ratifies the Treaty the President cannot sign anything.

EDIT for clarity - A treaty must be approved by the Senate for it to go into effect. The President can sign and forward a treaty to the Senate for approval.

Regardless, it is not something that will have any effect on private ownership of legal guns in the US. It is all about MILITARY weapons trade in other parts of the world.

I have to check that. I read that HE signs it first, then it has to go to the Senate (not the House) and it has to be passed by a Super-Majority in order to be considered "ratified".

Phaedrus, just so we don't have to be told we are misunderstanding a liberal statement please give us your rendition on this statement.
