Phaedrus , I do agree that what you made in bold print hold it's own truth but the statement that I find discusting and profoundly incorrect is this one.
If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.
This is out and out BS. Yes the goverment may have built the roads and brides but it was business and personal incomes from business that generated the tax to build everything the goverment does.

I work for a family business that my father built from scratch over fifty-five years ago. He did not get any assistance from the government . He built it with his sweat and persistence. Yes he "employed" people that helped him build his business and use banks loaned him money because he was a good risk ot because the goverment said they had to loan him money. Do you not understand capitalism?

The goverment owes us all for what it is, but obama thinks we the people owe the goverment ! Do you not see that?

As I said in the beguiling the remarks you bolded may hav ebeen taken out of context by some but what I have quoted is pure ( insert pc correct term that you feel is correct ) a load of crap!!!

I put the phrase that has all of you in an uproar in bold so you could find it. Out of a 42 MINUTE (2,250 seconds) speech, you guys focus in on 56 SECONDS and then try to say you are not taking anything out of context.
OK, thanks once again for finding that transcript of the Obummer's speech.

The first part of that speech is pretty much hyperbole that both sides do. Some do it better than others. So, I would not denigrate the Obummer for that. Reagan was the best at it in my mind.

But, there are further parts of that speech I take serious issue with:
Now, the reason that I think so many of us came together in 2008 was because we saw that for a decade that dream was fraying, that it was slipping away; that there were too many people who were working hard but not seeing their incomes or wages go up; that we had taken a surplus and turned it into a deficit -- we were running two wars on a credit card; that job growth was the most sluggish it had been in 50 years. There was a sense that those who were in charge didn’t feel responsible.
True about wages being stagnant. Seems thats pretty much accepted. That started well before 2008. Most of that was a result of both sides actions.

Now, this businessmen about running 2 wars on a credit card, i take issue with. Both the congress and senate signed onto those wars including the UN. Both wars were a direct result of 9/11. 9/11 had consequences.

Taking a surplus and running it into a deficit was a result of 2 wars that was signed onto by both parties. Clinton did not have a war to fight in his 8 years. In fact, he had an opportunity to get Osama in custody. But, he turned it down and let him go free. Besides That particular deficit does not even come close to the Obummers $5 trillion in deficit in just 3 1/2 years.

The reason many of us came together in 2008 was because Bush served his 2 terms and new candidates were running. One of them was the first black candidate running for prez.
And so we came together to say we are going to bring about the kinds of changes that allow us to get back to those basics, allow us to restore and live out those values. What we didn’t realize was that some of that recklessness, some of that irresponsibility would lead to the worst financial crisis we’ve seen since the Great Depression. And I don’t need to tell you what we’ve been through over the last three and a half years because you’ve lived it. Too many folks lost jobs. Too many people saw their homes lose value. Too many folks saw their savings take a hit.
The crisis we had prior to 2008 was a direct result of democrat policies that started with Clinton when he began relaxing banking requirements for home loan applications. That gradually transpired into loosening rules in the banking and home loan industry to unscrupulous lenders and got worse and worse and worse. When the Dems took over Congress in 2007, Barney Frankenstein loosened those requirement more and more. They were warned about this by the Bush admin in senate committee several times. Plenty of YouTube videos of those committee meetings are out there. In fact, republicans got their a##ses chewed off for even bringing those matters up in those committee hearings. Barney Frankenstein refused any warnings on these issues. The BIG Crunch came when the home loan insurance industry could no longer insure risky home loans and banks could no longer collect monthly home loan payments on those loans and foreclosures took off at astronomical rates. You know the rest of the story. Once again, the dems refuse responsibility, in fact laying it ALL directly back onto the repubs. That is all a matter of history that the Obummer outright denies and democrats do the same.
THE PRESIDENT: Now, let me say this. It’s fashionable among some pundits -- and this happens every time America hits a rough patch -- it’s fashionable to be saying, well, this time it’s different, this time we really are in the soup; it’s going to be hard to solve our problems. Let me tell you something. What’s missing is not big ideas. What’s missing is not that we’ve got an absence of technical solutions to deal with issues like education or energy or our deficit. The problem we’ve got right now is we’ve just got a stalemate in Washington.
No sh#t. The Dems refuse to work with the repubs. Thats also a fact of history. The repubs since they took over congress has submitted almost 40 bills intended to cut spending, create job growth, or repeal ObummerCare. Not one single of those bills has made it to the floor of the senate. harry Reid blocked them. Is that what you call partisanship?
And the outcome of this debate that we’re having is going to set the stage not just for the next year or five years, but for the next twenty. On the one side you’ve got my opponent in this presidential race and his Republican allies who --
The only outcome if the Obummer gets another 4 years is about $20 trillion in further debt at the present pace of spending.
THE PRESIDENT: No, no, look -- I mean, we’re having a good, healthy, democratic debate.
Oh really ??

Well, I suppose if you consider constantly demeaning those who achieve, demeaning those who have money (the rich), accusing Romney of being the outsourcing king while you are sending tax payer dollars to foreign countries for your "Green" agenda, begging for 10 years of Romney's tax returns while you refuse to release your college records honest debate, then go for it. The other side will have no other choice but to reply with attacks better than yours.
THE PRESIDENT: So that’s part number one, right. More tax cuts for those at the top.
The estimate of increased revenue the proposed tax hikes on the "Rich" will raise about is $85 billion dollars per year. The Obummer has increased our debt well in excess of $1 trillion per year for three years running and much, much more to come. So, how is a tax hike on the "Rich" going to do any good for anyone?

Second part of my rebuttal later.

Liberty once lost, is lost forever.

That is a big fat lie one war was a direct reaction of 9/11
the other was the war of bush,'he wanted to take out sadam]
for his fail attemtp to kill the elder bush in kuwait
.
he then set up his administration to lie about WMD and blow
the secret of a covert opperation agent because her husband tell
the democatic congress that the WMD claim was fakes.
Go hide you blooming face with your everyday lie on the forum.
trying discredited the president just because you want to put
party above the country interest.

Thanks Dennis, as I thought you took the opportunity to parse out every other small detail of his speech. The main point remains, you guys got your panties in a twist over a 56 second sound bite passed along by Faux "News" and made a determination based on that alone that Obama hates small business. That is completely wrong and only reveals your disconnection with reality.

Like I said, you don't like the guy and cannot even refer to him like a mature adult, so why should I expect facts and reality to have any effect on your opinions?

Romney made the EXACT same point, that we all succeed through a combination of individual effort and support from others. But Romney saying it is fine. Obama saying it must be twisted into something that he clearly did not say.

Pretty wearisome dealing with the never ending hypocrisy from the 5 or 6 of you here who have built your own private echo chamber of distorted ideas and juvenile conversations.

So I'm done wasting my time with you fellows. I'm sure you will use this as proof of something negative related to those who disagree with you, so be that as it may. I simply recall the old saying about wrestling with a pig. You both get covered in $h!t, and the pig LIKES it.

You don't read to well. Try the last sentence of my rebuttal.

I have not even got to that part of the Obummer's speech yet.

Try a little patience on for size.

I'll get to it.

I only have so much time on my hands. I have a responsibility to pick on democrats in other forums you know.

And who, pray tell, coughed up the tax revenue that allowed the government to pay for the infrastructure?

You are aware, are you not, that infrastructure was developed by the private sector until the politicians found a way (via taxation) to pretend that they did it.
