Is it true the backplate is a different material than the 50/56 backplate so you can use a sensor back there now?

It is the standard cast aluminum backplate. I haven't tried it, but you should not have any issues with a backplate sensor.

I did run a high strength magnet all over it after I took it off the engine and there are no signs of any ferrous material (like the steel plate on the 91).

Got mine last Sat and installed it at an event....

Painful process hovering around and doing gentle circuts for a few tanks, especially at an event

My setup is as follows
Miniature Aircraft Fury 55
Funtech B323
Enya #3
Coolpower 30%
Spektrum backplate sensor
Governed with Vbar gov, currently using same settings as my 56 did
2050, 2150 HS

As others stated the power this engine makes is amazing.

Still was very conservative (rich) on my tune and the difference between my 56's and a borrowed 55HZR I just removed is night and day.

Cant wait to get some more fuel through this engine and refine the settings. Definate winner and worth the $ to upgrade.

I have the stock Futaba sensor with the CGY750. It is easy on the N5C because the mount is made for it and epoxying the magnets in the clutch bell is also straight forward.

The jury is still out on the 750, so if I go back to the V-Bar, I will use the Spektrum back plate sensor.

I have been out of town a bit lately, so the N5C has been put on the back burner.

I will check the needle settings this weekend and get back with you.

I am also in the middle of swapping out the CGY 750 for the V-Bar. I tend to try other things from time to time, but I am a V-Bar guy. This means that I will be installing the Spektrum backplate sensor as well.
