Very nice looking heli. I have a quick question... Does having the 3G unit mounted on the bottom try offset to the left of the mainshaft affect much when it comes to rolls and piro compensation? I know some of the other FBL sensors like to be mounted in line with the mainshaft but not 100% sure the 3GX needs to be...
Thanks!!
Kirk
Proud to have over 13 pages of Good Guy feedback.

Objects rotate at same angle, so gyro placement makes no difference. It's very important that it face forward or backwards not at an angle. I prefer to face mine forward. I have mine on the left side of the radio tray.

Was the ESC hitting thermal in that location?

Yes is was. We were flying on a 108 degree Summer day. Mounting the 120 in location 1 as per instructions didn't work for my style of flying. I fly very aggressive, one move to the next, 2230 head speed 14 degrees pitch and not wanting to compromise. The speed control needed more air flow I moved it to position two tested no thermaling.

I'm experimenting with different head speeds I think 2230 is to high for the tail gearing so I'll probably drop it down a little bit at a time to get rid of tail buzz.

Cortez Jenkins and I have been sharing information checking with other Align team members to get the very best set-up information.

This is the best machine I have ever flown.

APS system fun
We had 2 heli's with the new APS system on them. A rex 600 nitro and a Gaui X7 that is a camera ship (had the gimbal removed). Lots of fun to say the least! Also a lucky young man (was a spectator at the field) got to fly the 600. Enjoy the vid!

Isn't that an APS system?
If we were'nt so hard to get along with we probably would of had fun. That was sure a great day of flying. I can't believe the improvements the pilots are making. It seems that everyone is learning and improving and now thanks to Jeff Fassbinder and Align we have a new tool(APS System.)this is an incredibly advanced way to train. The student can keep control of the helicopter for longer periods of time giving them better hand eye stick orientation. The system keeps them from making too radical of a movement which lets them keep control of the helicopter for longer periods of time all taking the stress off the buddy box instructor and the learning pilot. Oh...and I forgot to add it sure is a lot of fun to play with. I think we all had an incredible time but I'm sure no one had a better time than I. One more thing... thank you Pete for the Snicker bar, that should help my diet. LOL...

Cortez Jenkins and I are going to be demoing this unit at IRCHA. We're hoping to give people a chance to fly this unit. It's like Cortez always says its no fun just to sit and watch.

We hope to see you all to IRCHA!

I Vote for Both of Them...
Without the APS Unit I don't think we would have any. We have too much excitement at the field with all the Align products. My vote is in for all of them.

How are you guys doing that with the APS? If I put mine in APS mode it holds position allowing you to move up/down yaw only? (Or at least I think so, I haven't tried moving about) You seem to be using it to "dumb" down all axis movements.
Want Align to bring out google earth plotted waypoint flights, that will be cool!
Using mine for night flying at the mo. Great as a backup should the lights fail!

It is slow and deliberate in APS mode. To me it is perfect for what we use it for, training and arial photography. I think as we get more used to it and learn the commands to set waypoints it will get to be even more useful in the arial photography role.Fly it like you stole it!

Mrloudly, I can't believe how well this APS system works. The more I use the system the more I appreciate it.

I've been buddy boxing for years and the problem with most new pilots is over control. In APS mode the system is very dosile perfect for training. The kid that was in the video had never flown a helicopter before, yet I was able to hand him the remote. His first flight consisted of back and forth forward flight, nose in hover. I never had to take the radio, I was able to help him with the sticks, keeping him on the radio and In control for the entire flight.

This is going to be a great tool for stick orientation prior to flying in 3gx mode. The sticks need to pushed move than in 3GX mode so there is a small learning curve. Once use to the feel it is quit easy to fly and control.

One question that I get asked is who is the system designed for? I'm A hard core 3d guy yet I find this system fascinating. It is amazing to see the helicopter self correct itself in APS mode and it's a mind blower to see it fly itself from and to the three different positions. It's a great traing tool and is also perfect for a camera ship, but my guess is that most people will want it because it's a cool gadget.

Our flying field (Sunchasers in Kansas City MO) is a fun place to be and share these new Align Products. If your ever in the Kansas City area and want to spend the day with a great group, come on by.

Flew the v3 again today DFC
Nothing wrong with my DFC head!!! Cortez Jenkins and I have been working together to diel this new Heli in. I don't believe I've ever had so much fun. It's hard to improve on perfection. Aligns' got a real winner with this Heli. I can't wait for IRCHA. We're ready to help anyone with the Align products from the 3GX to the APS. If you need help look us up.
