+1 to what Sluggo said. The current design works without much in the way of fuss. Why change what doesn't need changed? People are always just looking for the "new" thing even if the "new" thing isn't all that much better. About the only thing that would be nice from a bigger motor standpoint may be a larger fuel tank (if it doesn't mess with the CG too much) a larger clutch and perhaps a beefier autorotation hub. The only other thing that would be nice is if Align would start producing just kits again instead of putting everything in a ready to fly combo only. Having the choice would be a plus.

Allot of 700N owners were expecting a significant upgrade to the 700N and this is not it. The 700E is a way newer design and it’s seen the V1 V2 and now the V3, 700N has gotten no love from Align’s design team. Time will tell what they have really done but the photos don’t look to impressive.

I don't know why.....

I think with all the hoopla and speculation many currant Trex 700N owners where expecting a direct swash to servo setup vs. bell cranks seen in the photos. Again not much improved, really disappointed I was hoping for a different servo layout like the new 600E has. If this is Aligns future for the 700N, it'll be the end for many Align nitro fans as they switch brands.

Why is direct swash such a big thing? Do you really think it would fly any better. Also this would include a retool Wich is $$$ and with everyone switching to ehelis there is a huge drop in nitro sales. I think with this new nitro it is more about making small improvements where needed. The 700 has been the same from the start for a reason, it didn't need anything. Now with the 120 and 105 big blocks it needed to be beefed up in a few areas which align did. Narrow frames will be stronger with less flex. Add to this UV servos, dfc head, new tail and speed up gears and it will be a awesome kit. Also will come with the 3gx which is awesome with the new 2.1 software. I feel they have done more then they needed to do in today's market where ehelis out weigh nitro 2 to 1.

Only thing i would have add maybe is adjustable meshing for different gear ratio. But 8.0 is very nice on 700N so not big deal. AND REAL TURNBUCKLES. Please Please make some turnbuckles.

The reason I would change is because currently the Trex 700 is a tank. Not that its heavy but when in a crash it holds up really well. I wouldn't sacrifice that for a few ounces or even a pound. If the tank was larger I wouldn't fly for more than 7 minutes so I just wouldn't fill it up. but the fact that the heli is thinner and the tank looks bigger I think its the same size they just designed it different to fit the narrow frame.

what do you guys think about the exposed clutch. wouldn't it get more oil from it being out side of the walls. also in a crash you will also have to replace the clutch if it hits anything now that its exposed.

Direct swash to servo has performance benefits VS having bell cranks with additional rods, links and moving parts plus it sheds unnecessary weight from the heli, simplifies the overall design. Basically Align has re-released the same helicopter more or less with minimal overall changes that do nothing but force people to buy new V-3 parts (this is not a huge plus). I see this heli being a big time flop since the current Trex 700N is so darn good. I guess if you want direct swash to servo nitro heli you will need to buy a MA Whiplash then.

I have the whiplash and love the direct swash set up. Plus the whiplash is build like a tank as well. The new 700N looks okay, will love to see one in person before make my decisions.
