Does anyone know an easy way to remove the plastic inserts that go into each end of the tail boom (the ones with the bearings that support the torque drive bevel gears) ????

I need to swap my tail boom for a new one as it has a few small dents and a little bit of hanger rash. The inserts and torque drive are all fine, but i just cant get the damn inserts out to swap everything over.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks

Garry

I use the TB mount that's in the sideframes. With two pinning screws (in the TB mount) inserted into the holes in the bearing mount, I put the TB mount between my feet and pull on the tailboom. The bearing mount will stay in the TB mount.

I now use an exacto blade and scrape the OD of the bearing mount till it fits into the TB with just a little pressure. It easier to remove this way.

I'm with Don
I use the same method! If you run the pinning screws all the way back down in the plastic boom clamp there's just enough screw there to keep from gripping the boom. Works great. Makes you wonder if they were put there for that exact reason... hmmm.
