I switch radios from a JR9303 to an 8FG.

And now the multi gov does not work, properly. I have one on a R6203SB and the other on a R617FS.

They are both acting up in the same way. Everything looks good via the view screen, the speeds change as I flip the flight mode switch, the rpms read out as they should for each speed, I have speed 1 at 1650, speed 2 at 2000 and speed 3 at 2100. but..... when I spool up in normal mode, it goes to 1900, Then when I flip to idle 1, same speed 1900, than another flip to idle 2, same speed 1900. The engine runs at at constant rpm. So the engine is being governed, but..... via...... I'm not sure where it is getting the speed from.

I have tried the following. Tie channel 7 to Gov 2 function, no change. Drop the Rx out of high speed mode, no change. Tie the gov channel to SE (flight mode switch), no change. I have the Gov in the radio at the following percents 0,50,100.

Everything reads out as it should on the view screen. It picks the sensor up at 99,the three speeds are there, the rpms are there but after that nothing. I am using the back plate sensor, but I was using that before on the JR radio, with out issue.

What the heck?

Hello
Is anyone running the multigov on the 8Fg.

If so what are the settings in the radio to get this to work?

I am not familiar with the 8FG but have run the Multigov with the 14MZ for years. Is there a servo monitor screen? If so, look at it while operating whatever switch controls the speeds (probably idle up). In normal it should show the "servo" at full travel one way, centered in idle up 1, and all the way the other way in idle up 2. If you have this and the speed wire plugged into this channel then the govenor will work. You might not want to use the govenor screen. If you treat the speeds like a regular servo with full throw on a 3 position switch that's all it takes to control it as long as you then set your speeds with the programmer. If it still doesn't change speeds is it possible you're actually running off the throttle curve? Bad sensor or lost magnet for example.

Have you recalibrate the multigov? I have had mine do that on a 12z when switching from one model to another and I forgot to recal the end points.

The outputs on the servo screen looks good.

The outputs on the multigov screen looks good.

The actual out look, not so much.

I have one with an Airtronics SD10G that's doing the same thing. Everything is showing to work correctly but it runs at almost full throttle.

I have two of them doing the same thing.

Recal, yes I re-set the throttle limits. I went through the whole multigov set up. Everything appears fine.

It even seems to regulate, but... based on what setting and why only one speed?

Does anyone have a multigov on an 8FG, that is working correctly?

Thanks

I tested the MGPro when the SD-10G first came out and back then the MGPro and the CSM Revlock were the only govs that worked with the SD-10G due to the way that FHSS-3 updates the channels in each frame.

Sounds to me like the MGPro isn't seeing the sensor. Back plate sensors can be problematic from time to time.

It sees the sensor. It reads 99 on the display.

Please understand the rpm is a constant 1900rpm, and it holds even on tic tocs. My throttle curve is not that good.

It's just that I have three speeds programed into it, and none of them are 1900? And it only does that one speed, even thought it shows all three on the display.

You have it set up on your flight mode switch? My sd10g did that at first so I went to my gov menu and had to change the output percent for each speed so the gov knew where I wanted to be.are all of yours at 100%?

When I first setup the MGPro it is just like Chad said, you need to make sure you have absolute control over the Aux channel because the speeds reside in the governor itself but there is more to it. The Gov just needs to see state changes from the AUX channel. IOW, let's say that you setup the 3 speeds and one speed is called with the AUX channel at 100%,the next speed is called by the channel being at 0 output and the third speed being called with -100% output. Now then, the channel output changes states so that the Gov sees these "state" changes and the Gov is now being commanded through the speed changes properly when the assigned switch is cycled. It's easy to make the gov change speeds because you can see the speed changes on the Gov Display just by cycling the EPA's on that channel.

When I say that you have to have control of the AUX channel, the above description is the basic tenant that makes that happen for you. Once you can command the AUX channel it is trivial to assign that output to a flight mode switch on the Airtronics for instance and that can be called with each flight mode by the appropriate switch and also overridden by the Gov switch in conjunction with the Flight Mode switch or just simply setup the AUX output on a single 3 position switch that can cycle the channel to 100, 0 and -100. The 8FG should be able to do this as it is designed to work with the 701/750/GV-1 series of governors.

My advice is to look at the MGPro display and make sure that the AUX channel is working like you want it to and then look at the MONITOR screen on both radios to make sure that the appropriate AUX channel is doing what it is supposed to do. Curves are just for back up they won't affect what you command the gov to do with regards to speed changes.

Looking at the output on channel 7, I have -100, 0, 100 as I flip through the flight mode switches.

So channel 7 looks good and it is tied to the flight mode switch, but... that is the way it has always been. Nothing new there.

I appreciate the responses.

thanks

Still nothing new. I've got to be missing something.

PS - this is the "old" multigov, not the pro. I have like three or four of them. Just can't get them to work with the 8FG?

I tried that....

The R617FS does not have a high speed mode.

And

I took the R6203SB out of high speed mode, same results.

I emailed aerospire, they are not aware of any issues with the 8FG that would prevent it from working.

I also tried using the Gov2 function, no change.

Keep em coming.
