Cool for AP type work I'd think.

nah man no regrets, if I was going AP, 100% it would be a quad copter, to me they make more sense for this work.

Can crash and build a second one for that price
Yikes, $800, I'll put it on a glass pole and pretend it's not moving.

Sometimes I think the hobby's taking a crappy orientation... the pleasure is in trying and managing to fligh them...

But obviously, next step after FBL stabilising units will be generalising autopilots and GPS based flighing...

I think that pretty soon any idiot will be able to download an "Alan Zabo 3D demo" program and execute it on their heli just by pressing one button and watching (maybe won't even have sticks in a few years, just an IPhone).

It's a shame that it's going this way, I'll be out if this happens.

God bless balsa wood, Ambroid glue and Titebond, silkspan, dope and sand paper. Methanol and AAA castor oil. Let's go get a buzz building and make some noise and smoke to aggrevate a treehugger.

$800 is still cheaper than the WooKong-M for $1000. A little competition might bring down the prices.

Automated flight
A four-month newb in Australia stated on RCG his intention to install a Helicommand unit to 'learn to fly'. Each to his own, but anyone who can fly an RC heli knows there are no shortcuts to acquiring the skills and no joy equal to doing so.

Align's accomplishment here is impressive and I wonder how many newbies will pony up 800 bucks on top of the other costs of this hobby to avoid learning to fly RC helicopters.

That would be a great tool in helping new coming to and stay in the hobby when the price comes down - assuming $800 is really the MSRP.

Now that is really awesome. Wonder how long it will be before we see this on the market. Of course I'll let the RR community test it before I take the plunge :P

Okay.. Align needs to spend some time and energy on...

- Lipos that take up the same space and weigh the same as we have now, but LAST TWICE AS LONG!

- Put out a kit that doesn't need upgrades
