ok, usr this on my trex 600, with ice 100. love it. i a m doing a few scale heli's, and i have been told that this is not a good idea to use set rpm mode. i am doing a trex 700n converted to elec. align 470kv motor, ice 120HV, or a 160 HV, 11t pinion, 112th spiral gear, want a head speed of 1500rpm with a 4 blade head. on 11s i can achieve this with 88.7% throttle at nuetral collective. i have been told not to govern below 80%. any input i would appreciate! greg

I dont think that would be an issue as at 88% at zero pitch then as you add pitch you will get spikes in power and if you go to high % wise (say 98% or something at 0 pitch)it doesnt have the headroom to ramp the motor up to keep the HS you wanted. I think you are fine.

and the blonde said "RECTUM, Hell damn near killed em!!"

With 11S you are at 20% HR below nominal batt voltage to get 1500 HS.
Although that will work, I believe you'd be better off with 10S and 12% HR below nominal. This will be more eff. and easier on the ESC.

Great link! Thank you! Now, to further my knowledge....what is the real differance of gov high/low and set rpm mode? Both require entering target headspeeds, but since there are both modes available, I assume they are different.

Flyride, do you think I should target a lower " percent of full throttle" at zero pitch to be on the safe side? I don't fly 3d or anything, but scale heli's do tend to way a bit more than a pod and boom 3d heli. With my ice 100 and 600 pod and boom I just hooked it up yo set rpm, filled in the blanks and went on! Been hovering it and got into learning forward flight it works fine, but then started researching it and realized there is way morew to setting up the power system then I knew about! So I am trying to figure the best way to go! Thanks everybody! Keep it coming!
