After trying two new Align hubs/one way bearings on my Trex600N/YS 56 with similar results, i.e., OWB locked up after aggressive flights, I tried Boca Bearing's FC12 OWB.

Pricey @ $28 but it works perfectly with no locking up. Just press out the original and press in the FC12 into the original hub.

There are probably threads addressing this issue but I was unable to locate them using the search function.

good to know since the 600EFL and the 550 use the same POS.

Lots of threads. I have an FC 12 in one of my hubs. Note that it also has a lot more drag when free wheeling and will affect your auto's like an old slipper clutch. But not as much as a locked up bearing !

FC 12 is a generic specificaton for a one-way roller clutch of this size. In this case, the Boca seems to be an unmarked NSK FC 12 (or clone thereof).

The 600 EFL and 550's version may use the same bearing but the hub configuration is not the same as was included stock with the 600N's. I had the same problem with the old style hub/bearing locking up after awhile, and I believe this is why Align came out with the newer version of Hub/OWB, which also makes the old style of Autorotation gear incompatible.

Here is a page that rougly shows the differences. To address it, they have placed a radial bearing in the hub above the OWB, to decrease the possibility locking the bearing, due to slop and uneven load across the needles. Since there is a radial bearing above the OWB, the hub bore in now longer, so the OWB bushing is longer, and the plastic inner I.D. of the auto gear is longer to accommodate this. I have recently installed the new version in my 600N, and it works very well compared to the old.

The new design can now create to opposite issue, the OWB will slip. I had a minor crash with a 600e PRO when the heli was new, all repaired, flying again for a few flights and with no notice the stock OWB slipped, please just be aware of this. Ideally a OWB is supported above and below the OWB with a radial bearing.

Similar to the Boca, I have had good success with the KDE OWB

One of the critical issues with a OWB is the correct amount of press fit is required to size the bearing correctly. This is a combination of the OD of the bearing and the ID of the housing. Even a few tenths of a inch (.0001" total tolerance can make a significant difference. I suspect that we have found bearings that increase the preload slightly which is reducing the failure rate.

Most of the One-Way bearings I have pressed in/out of that old style hub are a very tight fit; so much so that I worried about collapsing the sides of the bearing. Pretty scary to have no indication of that slippage until it happens. I've been flying a 600 EFL for about a year without any issues, however.
