Hi there... new to the site and this hobby... I started with. Coax then to fixed and finally on to collective I have a Titan se. A raptor 30 and a trex 450 3gx while trying to hover the trex I had a hard time keeping up with how quick the cyclic. Controllele so I decided to try the blade 450. My questions were is the setup in the manual pretty close and should I stick with the wooden blades or switch to carbon fiber or fiber glass l. I've heard some horror stories with wooden bladess. Sorry about the spelling. I am doing all this on my phone and it won't let me look as I type... thanks

I would buy cheap CF blades. You can buy the 3D Pro blades from Hobbypartz.com for about $10 a set of 325mm blades. If you are in the beginning stages, that is a good way to go. Now if you have FBL like on your 450, then you are better off with FBL blades. I think you can get the Align FBL for about $20 a set. Fiberglass blades that I have seen have a nasty habit of being out of balance quite often.

What is your experience level. Are you just learning to hover? If you are just learning to hover you may want to check out this website.

http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/how-...elicopters.html

It was a very helpful website that had a good training program for teaching yourself how to fly a CP helicopter.

I am asking these questions because I find that the wooden blades are perfectly fine for learning hovering and forward flight. And if you do crash then it only costs $12 to replace the blades instead of $30. I use them all the time on my 450.

As for the setup if you are just learning to hover a CP heli then you should use a flatter pitch curve and lower rates on the cyclic. This will tame down the helicopter and will alow you to focus on the orientation and controlling the helicopter instead of chasing it all over the place. Also use some training gear to help if you have a less than perfect landing.

You should be able to slow down the Align 450 with the same techniques. set up a pitch curve that is approx -2° to 7° and slow your dual rates for your cyclic down to 50% and use some expo. (on the 3GX don't use expo in the transmitter and the 3GX program, choose one or the other)

I have learned most of my orientations on the blade 450 and I also test all of my new manuevers on the 450 before I try them on my 700 or 90. I started with modified settings for the 450 to learn hovering but now I use close to the factory settings.

Well I can keep one in a hover take off and land just fine but its really hard keeping it in one place which I know come with time... I have a mcpx. Which I can do about shrugging with I guess with the higher ones I still have that fear of crashing or bodily harm haha . But I know ill get over that eventually I was just hoping the blade would me more docile and a great training tool before I get my raptors back out... but thanks for the link I will definately check it out

I would keep the stock wooden blades on there until you are pretty skilled at flying the heli, and the chance of a crash is less as your skills progress. Wooden blades will sheer and break and therefore POSSIBLY save some of your other components. CF blades will not normally break much in a crash and will transfer the energy elsewhere, such as the head. I would much rather replace a set of blades than a lot of other components.

Fly it like your stole it!!!!!
