Right now I'm using an old hitec 5925 servo for throttle on my vibe 50 but would like to switch it out with a 9253. Problem is I am using a perfect regulator rigid that put out a fixed 6 volts.

Would the 9253 be fine with 6 volts or should I run a stepdown to it?

I believe you will have to step it down to use it.
A 1N4007 diode in series with the power lead will get the job done.
The cathode is towards the servo. Side with the stripe.

I accidently ran a 9253 at 6volts as a throttle servo. It didnt last many flights before it started jittering and failed.

Very common to use as a throttle servo (high speed and low torque application). However do not run at 6V, at the very least use one of the cheap Align 5.2v step-down resistors (or make your own if you are so technically inclined).

On my old 600N I used a 9253 with a align resistor I soldered permanently inline to the servo lead.

5.8 volts max for the 9253. The Align step down device is NOT a resistor, it is a silicon diode that has the typical forward-biased voltage drop of approximately 0.7 VDC across its terminals.

Went ahead and ordered a western robotics stepdown. I replaced the 9253 that was originally on the tail of this heli with a 9254, so I decided to replace the hitec on throttle with the old tail servo.

I've really come to like futaba servos since I started flying helis.

The Western Robotics unit is superb.
