Had this happen to me today, it wasn't pretty, but it could have been MUCH worse than this.

Watch at YouTube

Still troubleshooting and trying to find out exactly what went wrong, so any diagnosis at this point is purely speculation. It may have been a puncture of the battery during impact, but if that's the case, it's pretty amazing that the canopy incurred very little damage aside from some cracking in the paint. This Goblin sure hold up though!

man, that sux. I feel for you. But I do have to say it was funny when you said, there goes the timer, i guess its time to land. Got to look at the bright side of things. Hopefully it wont take much to rebuild and get back in the air again.

Sorry for your loss.

It's good that you got the battery away from the heli or the whole thing would of burn up and it will be a total loss. It looks like the goblin held up well on your crash.

And you kept your humor-- "Looks like it's time to land"

I busted out laughing. That really sucks bro, but like you said, it could have been a whole lot worse if you hadn't gotten that lipo out of the heli.

Deeter you are cool as ice my man! Im sorry to see you go down like that but I am impressed as to how you handled the whole situation. Had it been me, there would have been a parental warning "use of strong offensive language in this video!"

Lol, thanks guys. There might be a tech tip out of this one. Watch again Dan, and listen, there is some adult language. There's also a small portion cut out where the camera is pointed to the sky and all you would hear is me cussing while I work to remove the canopy.

How old we're those Zippies, and which spec where they?

iKon, because I am connected to my heli, are you?

That really sucks. Glad it was not a lot worse (I guess). Watching the video I would put that all on the battery. A few seconds before the crash you can here the heli power down and the battery was on fire immediately on the ground. The fizz sound is also the sound of a cell venting.

Feel your pain brother (see me 700E thread), looking forward to seeing what you find. Looks like we both use the KDE motor, my lipo's where Gen Ace though. What is your ESC?

It wasnt the ESC that caused the crash, it looks as if the tail gave out, may have been the push rod popped off, gear mesh , who knows , but the tail did piroette CCW just prior to going down, it wasnt rcdbutz fault (no dumb thumb) no was it the ESC. The lipo was pierced at impact which caused it to burst into flames, all lipos will do that if you puncture them.

castle ESC, but the ESC looks fine, only the one battery caught on fire. Must have been a 1 on a million hit on that battery, as the canopy still looks fine too.

At 0:40 into the video it looks like the tail grips let go, Im thinking the push rod popped off ie. no tail authority from that point.
