OK now that you clicked on this to find out what's up, I'm going to stay with just a 6S set up, nothing bigger for me, ( personal preference ). I started out wanting the X5, and then after talking it over with the guys at the field ,the Logo came to light, then I'm thinking to myself I already have a 700, 600, and a 250 in the Align stable so why not stay with Align.
So now it's opinion time, so get out the popcorn and lets have at it.

Whatever You Want
It only makes sense to stay with Align if the parts are common.. IMO, go try another machine and see what other MFG's have to offer.

Hey, can I borrow that?

+1

Go try another manufacturer out. Doesn't matter which, I would recommend whichever one you get the best support from.

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

The Logo can swing up to 560s and same with the Trex 550.
The Gaui X5 is actually a bit smaller compared to the other 2.
So they're both a little different, but not much. And By your fleet right now it looks like you want to fill the gap and have a "550 size", but tbh if youre considering getting a logo, get the 600. I went the route of a logo 500 and i was always wanting a little more out of my machine. I upgraded to a 600 and never looked back.
Just be warned, once you go logo youll never fly anything else again

I don't want to go beyond 6S. Had a 600e before the Align one came out and just want to stay away from all the hastle of dragging out generators and what not. 6S I can just charge off of my battery.

Don’t know much about the Gaui X5 but I do know quite a bit about the Trex 550E and the Logo 500SE.

I have built a total of 3 Trex 550E’s and all of them flew without any issues plus dollar for dollar they are an excellent value and super performers (not with the stock Align FBL system though). Big plus with Align parts can be had at your LHS without wait times.

I have a brand new Logo 500SE (less than two months old) it fly’s like a dream when it fly’s that is. This is one expensive heli for this size class and parts can be hard to get if RH is out of stock.

The list of what I don’t like:
1)The manual sucks not very informative at all Mikado can learn a thing or two from Align.

2)Missing parts my kit did not have the adequate amount of shims for the main gear like the manual showed it should have had (had to place an order thru RH to get this correct)

3)Poor quality tail case (again lack of info in the manual) I had to epoxy the side bearings in place after 20 flights since they began to spin in the carbon case. Also the boom length is not correct (too short). With the tail boom installed it goes all the way to the end of the clamps. If you tighten up the tail boom clamps (tail end) it bends the boom in.

4)No measurements for the rods installed in the carbon tail boom control rod.

5)Poor finish on the plastic frames tons of sanding required for a good fit.

6)No extra parts what so EVER. Align, SAB Goblin (new kid on the block), Henseleit, Thunder Tiger, HDX, Outrage and many other kits at least give you a few extra parts but not Mikado.

7)Parts wait times can be lengthy if RH is out of stock (this often happens) as a matter of fact I am waiting on boom clamps now.

8)They say you can swing 600MM blades with this heli but it’s quite restricted (head speed). All the Mikado guys at my field (there are many) say DON’T DO IT (swing 600MM with the 500SE). But the box says you can and that’s all that really matters. I would run for the hills if you swing 600MM blades (500SE) and watch from a safe distance not sure if all that plastic can take the extra stress.

FYI my kit came with 600MM blades that I sold.

Having built a Henseleit TDR (German quality heli) the Mikado is simply out classed big time in terms of overall quality, fit, finish, parts quality and poor quality manual. SAB new to the market has a better manual than the Mikado Logo has.

If I had to rate the Align Trex 550E VS the Logo 500SE the Align would win hands down.

Any photos up of the new E5?

i have two 550s with align 3gxs. (actually, i have two more in 700s) i fly with guys that have vbars, beastx, skookum and whatever, and i can't tell the difference, and i have flown them. one of them even put a 3gx on his 450. properly set up, and it ain't that hard, a 3gx is credible unit. not to hijack the thread, but there really isn't a need to lose the 3gx if you wind up with a 550...and I sure enjoy flying mine. edge 553s, fbl.

I'm a bit biased. I just built and have been flying an X5. It's a great heli and I like only having to use 1 6S pack per flight. I don't think you will be disappoint and it's different than an Align in many ways. Quality is pretty good and it is very light.

ESMO,
You are the first guy that has ever given an honest appraisal of the logo,s. I know that you can put close to two grand into a logo to get it equipped right. If you get a complete X5 with the BeastX for under $800, and the 550 for about the same. The X5 has me intrigued. One guy at my field has one and it is pretty impressive.

Quit being such a tightwad and dust off a stack of your old Flat green paper and get a logo extreme and never look back.

My LHS sells Mikado and have a 500SE combo which includes Edge 603mm blades - this is a Mikado combo all in one box.

I have been thinking about the same topic, as I currently have an Align 550e and wanted to settle on this size of bird i.e. 6S single pack - but get the biggest and best qualitym one I could.

I was drawn towards either a Logo 500se running 550/600mm blades, or Logo 600 3d running 550/600 blades - running 6S only.

But is this quality issue, one poor guys bad luck, or real evidence of general build issues, as everybody seems to swear by Logo.

Logo 500 is definitely the better heli... Nothing flys betters than a logo..

The other 2 are still excellent helis too... X5 is smaller, and swings 500-523mm blades. Being smaller it has the power to weight ratio advantage over the trex 550 (when comparing both in stock form)..
The Trex 550 is bigger and heavier than the X5 and can swing 550 blades..

If you have the money and can fit a logo 500 out with decent motor, servos and esc thats what you should get.

Alternatively you need to decide between smaller size and better performance (X5) versus bigger, better presence in the air and abundance of spare part suppliers , trex 550.

All are great choices it just depends on your budget and performance expectation.

I forgot a few more things I don’t like about this kit;

The landing gear if you have a mishap you will crack off the bottom of the frames with the greatest ease. That’s why the sell the plastic screws so they will sheer off.

Motor mount in the stock kit sucks too the Scorpion 4025-1100KV barley fits with any wiggle room due to spacing. (They do sell an upgrade, how nice is that). Mikado sells you a kit but you will need to upgrade the motor mount if you run the motor you get in the kit? Really?

I don’t mind spending top dollar on any of my helis truth be told. I have $2507 USD in my Logo 500SE now as it sits but it’s just not worth that kind of money to be honest. Again it fly's wonderfully when it fly’s.

I may try the Gaui X5 or the E5 when it comes out.

Keep in mind I have no brand loyalty, my loyalty is to my pocket (and Visa & Master Card).

I am really a sport type flyer with light 3D, preferring to run low ish headspeeds but with higher pitch values.

Can you run either Logo 500se or 600 3d on 600mm blades with 6s battery?

If the answer is not really which one would you run on 550mm blades, as a step up in quality to the 550e.
