How many of you guys are going to pay $250 (street price) for a Hall Effect servo ? I think this is a rediculous price. The Hall Effect chips, even 4096 positions in 360 degrees, are about $5. Of course, I am not even sure they will work since they have been promised for about two years and are still not here. I was thinking they would be in the $120~$140 range.

first ive heard of of "hall effect" but theres no way i will ever spend that much on a servo even if i was a millionare. thats rediculous. Only people that will be flying those are the pros sponsared by them and the people who think exspensive stuff makes them a better pilot. gotta link?

Hobby King will have them for 8 bucks in a few months

At that price they should have a NASA part number.

I hope as more are sold the price will go down.

BL servos were pretty pricey at the beginning too. Same with lipos, bl escs you name it.

Whatever the case, I want these companies to keep advancing the tech. But I don't have to buy it the minute it's out either.

I hope it catches on (it will), I would take one for a tail servo for the right price.

Well I am looking for the sponsored pilots to praise the improved performance and recommend them to us peasants. Hitec's Hall Effect servo disappeared without a trace.

Having just replaced a bls 251 due to a bad pot I see the attraction to hall effect. Little point in buying a brushless servo when the pot in it will last no longer than brushed servo. Price must come down, but an excellent idea.

Read the posts here on RR long enough, that statement could be made for about every product anyone here has ever used....

Can't argue with that. The guy who burned them up didn't say what frame rate and voltage he was using. They are probably JR MPH "clones" anyway. Where else would they come from ? HK didn't create them.

I did note on the one review the caution to not use greater than a 250 Hz frame rate with them...

Other servos of similar ilk on the HK site have cautions that they don't work, or burn up -- followed by a few posts saying "hey, these have a 760 usec neutral..and if you hook 'em up to standard output, they won't work, and will fry.

I've been tempted from time to time to give those servos a shot, but usually the good price is offset by the shipping charges.

Hall Effect Servos
I assume this is the same as "Magnetic Induction", where there is no pot?
