I bought a NIP S693 Sullivan starter wand here a few months back here on RR. I just used it for the first time yesterday to start my R50 w/ Hyper 50 motor. It stripped out only after 2-3 tries. The metal looks very cheap. It is chrome plated, and once the chrome came off, the metal is plainly not up to standards. I don't know if they are using a different whole seller to cut on costs, but for the price of these, I would expect more!

I had 1 a few years ago with no problems whatsoever. I will call them tomorrow to see if they will take care of it. If not, I will use another brand and let everyone know my results!

Now I can't start my heli. So I am grounded with it for now.

I went through a lot of posts under tools. Found this is a common problem. Have heard that they will replace it. I will have to wait till tomorrow and see.

Just called Sullivan today. The young man I talked to said he would just send me a new one out right away. He said the new 1's are not plated and head treated.

Definitely a great company who stands up for their products! But without hesitation....

Post a picture of your new wand. I'm sure there are hundreds of people who would be interested on RR.

So I assume the non-shinny one on the bottom is the new one. Is it hardened on both ends ? You should be able to tell by the discoloration.

Yes it's the 1 on the bottom. I didn't look at to close, already packed it with my Raptor I sold.

I called Sullivan and they said they would replace it after I shipped it to them.

So, $10 to ship it (unless I can fit it in the $5 Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope - and I pay shipping) and I am without any starter for the next two weeks.

Even though it is striped and the chrome is flaking off, it still works 1 out of 5 times, so I was hoping they would just send the replacement shaft.

Now, if I want to fly, I have to find a starter to borrow or buy a cheap temporary starter extension.

I really should have bought a crappy $25 no-name knock-off instead of the $99 super-duper "last forever" American version. At least I wouldn't be suprised to see that is only lasts 6 months then I would need to replace it.

Maybe its cheaper to buy the $18 extension shaft replacement from Sullivan and keep using the "broken" one until it gets here.
Then, I could list the piece of cr... American Made Quality Product on RunRyder.
Along with my Castle Creations products.
