I noticed today that the Predator NX V2 gasser has been moved from Century's current line of helis to their classic line. Does this mean the Predator has been retired? I hope we can still get parts. I have only had mine for two years.

Parts are Available
You shouldn't have any problems with parts. They still have parts for older models.

Looks like Century is Keeping their Predator NX V2 Condor Line...
this is great News for us Predator owners. Especially if we want to convert one of our Preddys into a Condor.

Not so sure about Century keeping parts in stock. I tried to order a front frame spacer and canopy mount from Century directly and they are listed as out of stock. The two parts were loose and vibrated out during flight.

I am actually going to sell my Predator and need to get these two parts to sell as a complete heli. I just can't afford to keep two gassers going. I would like to get my engine balanced and upgrade all of the electronics but can't do it at this time.

I will be just selling the mechanics, as I mentioned I would not want to sell the engine unbalanced and I'm sure anyone buying would want higher end electronics than I have in it.

I'll be posting it with pics this weekend.

"Balancing" is hit or mis, some stock engines are extremely smooth. If yours is one of the good engines, you will not gain much. Getting an engine to run as smooth as possible consists of crank truing and internal component weight reduction to change the balance factor. If you dial indicate your crank and it is below .002" (ideally below .001"), you could just buy a lightened piston or choose to do nothing. Crank truing IMHO is more important than the balancing. Just as important is to make sure you have minimal runout on your clutch and bell and the condition of the bearings.

The balance factor is a subjective measure on what yields the least vibration within a given RPM range. I have seen top builders actually hurt the balance factor.

Just go in with your eyes open, I don't want you to spend $$$ and be disappointed.

If you sell the engine, advertise it as stock, there are many helis out there that do not have modified engines.

Thank you for the info fastflyer20, I appreciate the help.

I had my g231 in my Spectra trued and balanced by Al at Hanson's. It runs noticeably smoother than my stock g231 in my Predator. If I remember correctly the run-out was over .002 on the crank. Getting the fan run-out to be barely acceptable was a huge challenge considering I started out with too much run-out on the crank and then trying to get the run-out low on the Predator fan hub is a nightmare in and of itself. I had read so many posts on people who had issues with the fan hub, some having to send them back because of machining tolerances. Mine is one that probably should have gone back but didn't.

Thanks again.

Parts for the predator and other retired heli's such as the Raven and NX50 will be around for a while.

The Predator 90 has been retired for a few years now, but I still fly mine, and still get parts for it, and I am sure I will for a number of years to come.

Unlike other companies like Align, the very second a product becomes obsolete, so do the parts...you have to keep buying the latest heli if you want parts for it
