Two things
I have seen the 4035 in a Goblin and it is plenty of power but the one I saw got VERY hot. I am unsure if it was setup or a motor dying but it was easily 200 degrees after a flight.
Secondly, I have seen more than a fair share of the Scorpion ESCs fail. I would stay away from it and use a Hobbywing or a Hawk/Robbe/Fusion/Mega Power ESC. They work flawlessly with the VBAR gov. I have the Hawk and my buddy has the Hobbywing in our Goblins and they have been perfect since day 1. I give the Hawk the edge as it comes with a built in fan and it never gets over 118degrees after a flight with my Quantum 4530-500 at 2200 HS.....Ron

To be fair most of the Scorp failures were on the BEC version.
yes there were a few on the regular but they were addressed pretty fast.

I'm still flying the non BEC version of the 130 and it has been great. comes down ice cold.

I'm running the big Quantum in mine and it comes down cooler than my Scorps for sure even in 100+ degree weather.

After chatting with MrMel and Ron I've decided to go with the Fusion Hawk. I think it will perform extremely well with the vbar.

So my final setup is

Scorpion motor HKIII 4035-560
20 Tooth Pinion
Vbar + Governor
Outrage all around
Fusion Hawk 120 HV Opto
Outrage 3200mah Flight Pack

Where are you all getting different pinions at. I've looked at Helidirect and SAB Goblin and neither have an assortment of pinions.

So you're keeping the stock 20t pinion on the motor and changing out the motor pulley. Thanks!

Technically, a pinion is the first gear or pulley of the drive train on the motor source. Therefore, the 20T is just a gear and NOT a pinion. The toothed pulley pinion is what you change for different "gear"/drive ratios.

I know, it is confusing. However, the 20T pulley pinion is probably just a bit too small for a 560KV motor with most ESCs (Kontronik excepted) and standard 2200-2250RPM ID2 headspeed. A 21T pinion is probably your best best. However, a 22T may do the trick as well. I use a 23T with the 500KV 4530 Quantum motor and CC 160HV ESC, although the manufacturer recommends a 24T for my setup.

I'll be using a Scorpian 560 motor with a Fuision Hawk ESC. What pinion do you think I should run.

I'm looking to have idle 1 @ 2100 and idle 2 @ 2300. I was thinking a 20t or 21t. I would like my throttle % between 70 to 90%.

Nycatt, you will need the 21T or 22T if you want 2300HS with your setup and the ESC throttle values you mention.

The % throttle seen by the ESC is actually done in the VBAR. The % you use in the tx is to "tell" the VBAR what % of the REQUESTED HS you want to run
