Heim Lockheed 286h
Thanks to the wonders of the R/C Helicopter Pilots page on Facebook, I have dropped lucky and am now the proud owner of this very nice machine. Just needs a little TLC and she's good to go.

The original owner had passed away and his wife asked a friend of the family to sell off the model stuff (There was a Hirobo GPH there for sale too) She wanted the models to go to good homes where they would be appreciated and treated properly.

This model has been flown and looked after quite nicely, just a little wear and tear on a couple of bits which is to be expected on a machine of this age. The blades are in absolute perfect condition

This one has a Rossi .65 fitted and all the radio gear. I already have a decent TX so this was a bargain at £100.

Looks like you have some nice vintage stuff. I see you are in the UK but you may want to think about coming to The International Scale and Vintage Helicopter Rally. It is the first of June. It Dieter Schluter is attending and it looks like Ewald may be coming as well. You can see more details on the threads in this section or under Events...

Very cool helicopter...I have a couple of the, and tons of parts if you ever need anything...

Thanks for the replies guys

When I saw this one come up I knew I had to jump at the chance to own this machine - they don't come up very often these days. I do actually remember these coming out and still have loads of old RC Heli mags from the 1980's with this machine and several other now classic vintage Heli's in there.

I do have a thing for vintage Heli's - something about them that makes flying them so much more enjoyable. Now I have plenty of experience in flying, it is not so nerve wracking flying them without worrying about wrecking them. My 29 yr old Kalt Baron 20 is proof of this.

43Stearman I do appreciate the offer of the spares, Many Thanks for that, hopefully they won't be needed. I only have to replace a couple of linkages on this one and the lower front canopy screens which I can mould easily. Apart from that - just a couple of small repairs to do on the top hatch where the screw holes are - again nothing too difficult to sort out.

I would love to attend the international show but unfortunately due to work I won't be able to go. Ask me again in 11 months time when I retire and I'll jump at the chance

In fairness to the guy selling this one on behalf of the deceased owner's wife - he stuck to his part of the agreement in finding this machine a good home rather than just selling it to someone who would just break it up for spares to sell on ebay.

I contacted him about the sale and he was able to view my other heli's to know that I was a serious Heli enthusiast and not one looking for a cheap income off spares from this one.

This machine is far too good for that and will be back in the air as soon as all the minor jobs are done.

The only condition made on the sale was to forward photo's when she is back in the air - I will gladly oblige

I thought I would have a problem sourcing new pushrods / Linkages for this one but not anymore. It's far easier and cheaper to make your own and that is exactly what I am doing. I managed to get a full set of the most common 3 sizes of dies & holder for £26.79 from a local small hardware store (The big hardware stores here don't do this sort of stuff) One of the guys at the small store is an R/C flyer too

The die sizes are 2, 2.5 and 3mm - the 2mm die from Vario alone would cost you £26.90 plus shipping, so I am pleased with my purchase. These dies will happily cut threads on stainless steel rod which I can get cheap in all 3 sizes. Plastic ball-links are readily available so now I am sorted for all my helis.
