My Diabolo :)
Hello All

The build went well. Parts quality is amazing and the parts fit was dead on.

Just make sure you follow the new tail grip assembly instructions...bearing order should be the following(from the center out):

Center of Hub ;Radial; Radial; Thrust; Screw

The heli is ready to fly with the following equipment:

3x Futaba BLS451
Futaba BLS251
Kontronik Power Jazz
Xera 4030-2.5Y(small but its what I have and I know it does work on this heli)
Hercules 15A BEC
2x Thunder Power 65C 5000mah 6s
Radix 690mm Std Weight Blades
Mini VBar With 5.1 Pro

Flew it today and it was spot on. No adjustments needed

I was surprised that the little 4030-2.5Y Xera was more than enough power(for me)... Quite a few people are cramming all these crazy large motors in their helis and don't need it...in fact it lowers flight time with no benefit to the pilot.

Unless you plan on going very very fast you can use motors like the 4030-2.5Y. Save some weight, preserve flight time and have more fun

Carlo,

I found out the same here. Flying with a 3500w small Scorpion was plenty to do anything with the Diabolo.

Now with the big Xera, even with a smaller pinion is like holding a Saturn 5 from leaving earth. Even if I dont want to go fast, it just goes.
Will have a replacement small motor this week.

I also "think" the Xera 4530-500 is spinning faster than 500kv. Will tach tomorrow.

The 4530 should be right at 5K...David is very critical about his designs and it should be very close to 500.

But yeah, I happy I don't have to buy new parts.

Yeh. Bought time, I have 3 motors to try in mine. Proto type xera thats in it now. 500 kv. 10s stick 5000 and 750 blades, Also slap in 12s 5000 under same setup for the 690 flight. Same motor as you have which i think is perfic size, also a 4035. 400 kv maybe later for 16s.
I will ship mine down south in a month. I will be there for 3 1/2 weeks.

The whole "feel" the xera is going faster is based on my "sick with the flu self" at the time, and the unbelievable power it makes. The motor may be dead on 500kv as you guys noted, and is the impression that monster motor left in me in only 8 minutes of trying it.
Time to cut down the collective pitch.

Time to cut down the collective pitch.
That and slowing down the HS will make it seem less powerful and give better FT.

Adjustments made after the making of this video.

The VBar was not setup correctly. Needed less pitch, more aggressive paddle simulation and lower piro rate.

The ESC settings were too high. I adjusted the flight modes % down

The heli seems solid to me know

Hi, very fun video, eco8gator! It looked solid. The only thing I don't like to hear is a hum sound that resembles a tail rotor out of balance or something not spinning true. I've had that sound on a heli when something wasn't spinning true or out of balance myself. Have you weighed each tail blade and each grip on a precision 0.001 jewler's scale?_Sam B_

They are the stock plastic tail blades.

I know they are slightly off but for the test flights its ok.... The heli flys solid and Ill be switching to Radix Tail blades for next time

Im not a fan of plastic tail blades but I do prefer using them for the first few flights because they get damaged so easily.

Ah, that confirms the hmm I heard. Any & all plastic tail blades are susceptible to hole elongation causing the 2 blades no longer to be equidistant. That, and/or they may have been different weights from the beginning. That is a serious risk even during the first minute of the flight. Just my 2 cents._Sam B_

I did spool it up on the ground with no main blades and the heli felt pretty smooth with the tail blade on. I did hear that whine noise coming from the tail but no where did I touch and feel anything alarming. I usually here these noises on plastics...

The V Bar spectrum analyzer confirmed the same...

When I put up the next video, expect it sound smooth(it looks and feels smooth now)
