How to catch your 450
I was thinking of catching my 450 (by the skid) for a while now. It was a bit windy today, but it was steady so I was not too concerned. First time I tried it, it was a bit scary (actually really scary) ... I held it in inverted hover for at least a minute ... hesitating, and then finally I walked up and plucked it out of the air. Second time around, it got much easier. By the forth time ... I was actually getting cocky.

Then I wanted to make it a bit more challenging by catching the heli with my eyes closed. So, I inverted the heli and brought it close to me, closed my eyes ... I could hear the blades, I reached out with my right hand (Mode One here comes in handy) And then when I opened my eyes ... I realized that I just woke up. Word of warning, I hope you have the sanity to not try this.

cheers, Khan

Why would you even post this? Just by posting so you invite stupidity into peoples brains. You may be liable if someone tryes it and is injured. that is how they do.

DON'T Do THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What were you thinking by posting this?
Friends don't encourage friends to fly helis! It can cause part shortages.

LMAO , I think I will try this tonight unless that beautiful blonde shows back up and wants to play with my heli instead. In that case I'm letting her do whatever she wants with my transmitter." The biggest threat to our freedom is not from foreign terrorist , but domestic morons"

I used to catch my 250 rex by
the skids, geez, no big deal.

Anybody ever drive I-95 in Miami?
Lets see, in the early 80's we had
shootouts in the malls and anywhere
else the cartel decided to engage.

And, you are sweating a heli "catch"?

Nope. They did what a lot of people do these days, jump to conclusions, complain, nag, etc.

There was a guy on here years ago that grabbed the boom on his TSK mystar 60. That didnt end well. His arm looked like it was either bit by a shark or went into a meat grinder.

Anyone remember the LMH? .061 powered wood framed fixed pitch mini-heli. It was the first attempt that I'm aware of to make a "small" heli.

Anyway, to tune it, you pretty much had to hold it in one hand, run up the throttle, set down your radio, and turn the needle, all the while getting your hand/arm covered in nitro goo. Friend of mine was doing this process, holding it by the boom, and it had a little aileron trim in it. The oily residue of course got on his hand, and we all know how slippery a shaft is when it's lubricated. Next thing we know, heli is rotating in his hand until the blades are hitting his forearm at full throttle. Funniest **** I ever saw. No blood, just looked like his grade school teacher beat him with a ruler too many times. After we were done laughing, he cranks it up again...and yes, rinse/repeat!

Oh my God, so many people with panties all bunched up, lol.

The man had not one ... but two dead giveaways/disclaimers, and people are still crying.

1. The obvious one: Word of warning, I hope you have the sanity to not try this.

2. And then when I opened my eyes ... I realized that I just woke up. He was dreaming folks (fiction), in case you didn't get it

Funny post

See the best way I figure to do it is to make sure your medical insurance is in good standings, have your loved ones kiss your face goodbye and then just go for it, hands out face first no FEAR MOFO AHHHHHHH!
Yeah that's the only way I can imagine doing it.

most people give the heli a stab at the throttle and do a power climb and adjust the motor as necessary.

Yeah, lol, the clubs around here would love to have some of you guys as members, nice fearless attitude but it takes more than wreck-less fearlessness to be truly fearless. Try being a Police Officer and if you one of guys that catches a RC mid flight in their hands, I would not want you as a partner, lol. Try Bomb disposal, should be more fitting for you. Haha!

You smell that, Rabbit?

Weird thread. Not sure why you'd even post it? It's a dangerous hobby that should (and does for most) revolve around safety... But I guess I can see how you guys with the little helis don't get so nervous lol
