I use a neck strap when using the sim, and try to reproduce a similar holding position. Todd Bennett gave me a lesson while sitting down, urged me to do so... "You don't stand when you sim, why would you stand when you fly?" I for one want to be able to run screaming away, and I feared that body english would topple me over... but he's got a point.

I can definitely not get myself to sim standing up. I have tried it in front of the big TV, and it did feel quite different. Not gonna happen.

I think it would be cool to be the only guy sitting in a chair flying at the field, but I don't think I'll get there.

Don't want to hijack, but kind of fits the topic. We are having a fun fly next month wanted to get some nice neck straps that have our club logo on it. Anyone know a company that can do that? thanks..

I use a No-Neck X-mitter strap and pinch. I started out thumbs and no strap, then went to a tray, extended sticks and pinch, then went finally went with regular sticks and the No-Neck strap so that if you bend over the transmitter won't swing and hit the model. A regular strap feels really strange and puts a lot of pressure on the back of my neck, so it seems.

I flew planks without straps for years. I also thumbed the left and pinched the right. When I got into helis, I was more nervous and needed more precision. I switched to pinch on the left (helped with precision piroetting maneuvers) and started using a strap based on my heli mentors' recommendation. I still fly planks without straps, but if I'm flying a heli, I wear my diaper...uh I mean strap...

+1 for the no-neck harness. Got one a couple of weeks ago. Super comfortable and you won't realize how much better it is without the neck pressure.

I have an extra one that I let people demo. EVERYONE has ordered their own after one flight. Like 10 and counting.

If you use a neck strap, you have a harder time throwing the transmitter when you crash.... Duh

I use a strap also. Have one of the futaba ones, but looking around, there are several much nicer ones. May need to upgrade. I also had a thread going because I had put a pin of a heli on my strap and wondered if anybody else did this. It didn't go over very well; I must have been the only one that did that. And I see why, probably isin't a good idea.
