Puppy poo! I have two 3G units, an orinal BeastX, the new BeastX/receiver combo, and three of the Gaui FES units. Properly set up, they all fly just fine. Setups are different, and characteristics are different, but they are all OK.

Pick what you like and fly it. And just becuase something doesn't work for you, it's not junk for everyone.

"Plus, flybars don't drift when you have vibes"

"and your basically fighting to eleminate as many vibrations as possible all the time."

Well it seems as though it works for some, and then some aren't so lucky (haven't I heard that somewhere before?).

I do understand that word of mouth spreads from those who get bad ones, which helps to perpetuate the escalation of it's bad reputation.

I'm sticking with FB for the two above comments, in particular, the second one. That is all I need to hear.

On an unrelated matter, is "Rc711" a good vendor? Trust worthy? They definitely seem to have the best prices that I can find for a 450 combo.

My experience - I bought a 3GX and built a FBL 250. Couldn't get it to fly right at all. Elevator had a severe gain 'wag' even with gain turned down to the point where it was almost uncontrollable at hover. I did NOT put my best effort into setup, ran out of interest and decided to put time into something else, went back to FB on my 250.

Pulled that same 3GX unit off my 250 and put it on my 500EFL. I went through the mechanical setup twice with a swash leveler and went through the 3GX setup twice to make sure it was my best effort at setup. I did upgrade to 2.0 software and firmware which is nicer. First spoolup it lifted into a perfect hover. did a few quick circuits to discover slightly too much tail gain. reduced gain and been flying since. No drama, no problems, flies great.

Almost has me convinced to try FBL 3GX 250 again. Those FB 250 heads are sloppy!

FBL is a challenge and your basically fighting to eleminate as many vibrations as possible all the time. But the feel of it compared to FB blew me away i will never go back
I actually ended up with the opposite reaction, personally. I was initially intrigued by how a fully stabilized heli flew, but eventually grew to dislike it strongly, especially in the hover.

Even my Vbar when I had it on my nitro I couldn't get to feel quite quite right. Always felt like it was fighting my inputs somehow and just doing stuff on its own that I just wanted it to not do.

I put my flybar back in the nitro and couldn't believe the difference, it was like, whoa, check out what I"ve been missing all this time. I can make it sit still in the hover even in the 20+mph winds we have in my area all the time. It does what I want it to and nothing else....

Like I said earlier, I now fly FBL NOBAR on my 700E. I actually prefer the higher pilot workload of no stabilization to the drifting and strange behavior of FBL gyros. The hover is actually more natural without it even with no flybar. Yeah, I'll probably never win any precision flying contests with it like that unless I get _really_ good, but it really brings the fun back into FBL for me.

So, in my view, FBL gyro technology really isn't quite there yet. It's a good start, but still too susceptible to vibration to really be a lot of fun for general use. I guess if you fly hard 3D, it doesn't matter much, but I think the software has a long way to go to get to where we've already been for a long time with flybars. The UI's for the software range from OK but cumbersome to use like the Vbar to absolutely awful like with the CGY 750. Lots of work still needs to be done there too.

But flybar and NOBAR are basically fuel-it-up-and-go-fly technologies that keep your heli off the bench and in the air.... in my experience anyway....

Unlike V-bar, CGY750, Skookum720, and BeastX, the 3G/3GX can be a hit (works for a few) or miss (does not work for the majority ... me included) and thus it is "bad."
