Flight comparison Ballistic vs. Synergy E7?
Hey Guys,

Anyone have any flight comparisons between the Ballistic and the E7? These are both great helis, and I like various design ideas on both models. The E7 is impressive with mostly carbon and aluminum, 3 main shaft bearing blocks, it looks to me that the frames are more rigid than the Ballistic...the ballistic has more plastic parts,(2) plastic bearing holders for main shaft, plastic tail boom holder, plastic tail blade grips.

I like the Ballistics battery tray, and larger canopy(would use the Rave ENV canopy...I like the larger size of the Ballistic for better visibility in flight. Also the tube drive tail is a must.

I'm planning on using my Xera-500 motor, Vbar with Gov., maybe a 160A Kontronik Kosmic esc.

I mainly fly big-air 3D (currently flying a Logo 600SE), but looking for a full size 700 electric.

I'm leaning towards the Ballistic with V2 710's, larger ENV canopy...tough call

Thanks for any opinions,

Brian

Well I decided on the Ballistic, planning on using Xera-500, Sick canopy ENV design, Spyder 5300 12S packs, Radix 710 V2, Vbar Pro with Gov., metal bearing blocks, 110 mm Radix tails...still need to buy ESC(maybe scorpion 130 OPTO and Western digital BEC) I'm planning on running HS at 1950 for Big-air 3D, looking for a good 6 min. flight time.

Let the fun begin!

I was able to get one 1 1/2 weeks ago. They sell quickly, I had to watch the website like a hawk. I signed up for 'notification', but I never received an email when in stock. I just purchased it onsite when it showed back in stock.DX8, Ballistic FSO, Gaui X5, Oxy 4, Vbar Touch

I surely will let you guys know what I think. Still trying to decide on an ESC which will work with the vbar gov. I sure wish Scorpion didn't have a few ESC's fail. It works great with the vbar gov, but I feel a little fuzzy about having one 'burn up'. My 'Punch RC' esc has been flawless, but I feel the larger motor is in need for a higher amp esc. I was hoping that using a separate bec would offer a better chance on not having the esc fail.

Hoping the Kontronik Kosmic 160 will be tested soon by Mrmel...and not have any issues.

Kontronik only warrantees the Heli jive, using the vbar gov, with the Pyro motor.

I have two Ballistics setup using the Kontronic HeliJive 120HV ver 11, Kontronic Pyro700 motor and the Scorpion 520 LE motor. They both work great on mode 4. The Scorpion setup is very smooth, powerful, and works excellent on the Kontronic gov. I am using an external LiFe pack for receiver power with dual power connections into the system. It works awesome.

If you want another option Sangeeth Samuel is using the HobbyWing with very good success. It seems to just always work just like the Kontronic units. He has the Scorpion 520 LE motor as well. I'm sure you could get him to chime in on this if you are looking for options that are working for us. He is using external receiver power as well.

Glad you have settled on the Ballistic. With these power setups you will not be disappointed..

Yes, if you use the Vbar gov with a HeliJive and are NOT using a Pyro motor some guys (only a few) have had Jive failures. No flames like a Castle, just shut down and won't work anymore. BEC's still work fine. K says they only recommend their own motors as of right now. Several guys are having ZERO problems running whatever with Vbar Gov on a HJ, just keep this in mind if you choose to.

You guys are missing 1/2 of the Jive by not using the internal BEC. I know most of you never have trusted a internal BEC. No other controller can be trusted. HW and etc don't have internal BEC's anyway, but a Jive is bulletproof. Been running nothing but for over 4 years straight.

Comb this forum and others you can NOT find ONE SINGLE in flight BEC failure of a Jive with the thousands sold over the years. Should tell you something.

I'm nothing more than a satisfied customer.

I did use the Kontronic bec initially and worked fine. I actually wanted a separate system for the reason I wanted to run a higher voltage than 6 volts. The servos I have perform better at the higher voltage. Setup and changes are easier with a separate pack for me as well. I do like the Kontronic's so far. They work very well.

Some more options!
I'm currently flying my Ballistic with a Hobbywing 120HV and a Scorp 520LE using the vbar Gov. Just incredible power. Great low headspeed performance, Im runnig a 13t pinion and fly routinely between 1700 and 2100rpm without any ill effects to bothe motor and ESC! And an extremely cheap setup with a $140 ESC!!
I've got well over 150 flights with this setup and no major Hiccups.

Good luck with your build!!

I'm using a 'Punch RC' 120 esc, very similar to the Hobby Wing, works great on my Logo 600SE with a Hyperion 4035-500 and Vbar. In the warmer summer weather, my esc was running a good 135 f. and motor running 160 f. I was just concerned that using an Xera-500 and the Hobby Wing 120 would be pushing it's design limits and operating temps.

Glad it's working great for you, how are the esc temps in hot weather? I may certainly try this option.
