RL53 breakin help Urgent
Hi,

I am just breaking in the RL53 engine...

Fuel is home brew: 22% Klotz, 15% nitro ( ready made fuels like cool power etc are not yet available in India)

Main needle is 4 turns out...and mixture valve is flush with the body as in the manual...

On the second tank the temperature ranged from 70 degree celcius to a max of 86 degree celcius...However, the smoke coming out was less and i couldnt keep my fingerr on the baseplate......

Really confused as the people here use castor oil and 5 or 10% nitro in the fuel...they are asking me to remove the synthetic and use castor oil only ( i am against this as i think Klotz is a very gud lube and they believe that synthetic lube containing fuels are meant for cool countries like UK or USA)

Kinda confused now regarding break in...Dont want to damage the engine as i am short of budget and converted 30 rappy to 50 after long time..

Have you fitted any shims under the head? I would sugest fitting the thinner one of the two for 15% in a hot climate!
If you can get McCoy MC8 plugs they work best in the 53!

You could put a 3mm shim under the head and I won't make any difference as to how that engine tunes because the head shim or gasket isn't the issue. The issue is the carb. You will have to richen up the low end and just to get the mid to work, no matter what fuel you use, 15% or 30% and it's not the type of lube either. Castor or synthetic is immaterial to the equation.

Leave the stock shim in it and richen up the low end, then once the engine will barely idle you can tune the high range.

We've given up on the stock carb a long time ago and gone with adapted OS carbs. The TT carb is Sh*t.

It's BS doctor the carb works fine! If you can't get it rich enough then you need to look at the plug or head shim! Those settings are quite rich from my experience so I would look for a leak or blockage on the fuel system including the carb first!

That's what a lot of folks say..........right up until they can't make the POS stock carb work. Keep believing.

i have changed the clunk line, n noted for air bubbles... Seems alrite to me..

the fuel filter from header to engine is just containing a mesh....

Will try to richen up the mixture valve and then see the response tomorow...If this doesnt works then will fiddle with the third needle...

Is there a video showing this third needle??

Wish me luck guys
