Not-So-Smooth Operator - Obama increasingly comes across as devious and dishonest.
Something's happening to President Obama's relationship with those who are inclined not to like his policies. They are now inclined not to like him. His supporters would say, "Nothing new there," but actually I think there is. I'm referring to the broad, stable, nonradical, non-birther right. Among them the level of dislike for the president has ratcheted up sharply the past few months.

It's not due to the election, and it's not because the Republican candidates are so compelling and making such brilliant cases against him. That, actually, isn't happening.

What is happening is that the president is coming across more and more as a trimmer, as an operator who's not operating in good faith. This is hardening positions and leading to increased political bitterness. And it's his fault, too. As an increase in polarization is a bad thing, it's a big fault.

The shift started on Jan. 20, with the mandate that agencies of the Catholic Church would have to provide birth-control services the church finds morally repugnant. The public reaction? "You're kidding me. That's not just bad judgment and a lack of civic tact, it's not even constitutional!" Faced with the blowback, the president offered a so-called accommodation that even its supporters recognized as devious. Not ill-advised, devious. Then his operatives flooded the airwaves with dishonest—not wrongheaded, dishonest—charges that those who defend the church's religious liberties are trying to take away your contraceptives.

What a sour taste this all left. How shocking it was, including for those in the church who'd been in touch with the administration and were murmuring about having been misled.

Events of just the past 10 days have contributed to the shift. There was the open-mic conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in which Mr. Obama pleaded for "space" and said he will have "more flexibility" in his negotiations once the election is over and those pesky voters have done their thing. On tape it looked so bush-league, so faux-sophisticated. When he knew he'd been caught, the president tried to laugh it off by comically covering a mic in a following meeting. It was all so . . . creepy.

Next, a boy of 17 is shot and killed under disputed and unclear circumstances. The whole issue is racially charged, emotions are high, and the only memorable words from the president's response were, "If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon." At first it seemed OK—not great, but all right—but as the story continued and suddenly there were death threats and tweeted addresses and congressmen in hoodies, it seemed insufficient to the moment. At the end of the day, the public reaction seemed to be: "Hey buddy, we don't need you to personalize what is already too dramatic, it's not about you."

Obama proposed a budget alright. It didn't get a single solitary vote. Not one. Not even from his own party.Was this shown by the MSM??? Nope. Hardly even mentioned by Fox. Fox seems to be moving to the center lately. Not good, as they were the only ones to hold anybody accountable in DC.

Obama is a total lie and the facts about him are leaking out bit by bit despite the best (worst?) efforts of the Lame stream press. We can only hope that enough people have become aware of how just plain bad this president is to be able to overcome the voter fraud and fake information that is sure to come up again this time.Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

it's also past time for the GOP to stop the bull and line up behind who is going to be the obvious GOP candidate and stop the infighting and work hard to expose the lies, deceipt and illegal things being done by this "president". He was an experiment and it has failed, way worse than even I expected it would.

Why do you call Social Security an entitlement? Disability may be arguable but not Social Security. I pay into that broken system every two weeks.

it should NOT be called an entitlement, but it still is an unfunded liability because of the way it's been raided all these years. Should have always been untouched. I read somewhere that if it had been untouched all these years there would be trillions in the lock box, ensuring for generations that it would be solvent.

Did Not Call IT an Intitlement !!! -Although it IS Treated as SUch ! No In = No OUT
Unfortunately WE have become a Society inwhich ALL is OUT and their is NO IN

Unfunded Social Security / + Entitlement's / Benefit's / Disability
17.5 Trillion

I will Read it for You

Unfunded Social Security = SLASH = STOP

PLUS = {+} Entitlement's = SLASH = STOP

Benefit's = SLASH =STOP

Disability = Compensation's

Then Break down every division and you will find hundred's of various social support system's along " Food Stamp's - Free Phones - Rent assistance - Federal loan Defaults on and on and on" -- with THEIR alternate branches./ SLASH = STOP

In principle I agree with you but in reality I have a problem with line of thinking.
If you listen to the mainstream media we should be standing behind Romney. I for one do not want him so what am I suppose to do?

To many times in the past I have voted not because I believed the person was the best for the job but because they were the lesser of 2 evils. I'm tired of this mentality and I'm not sure I can do it anymore.

I for one want a candidate I can actually stand behind and for me that is not Romney. Do I believe Romney would be better that Obama? Absolutely. Do I believe Romney will attempt to fix the problems rather than just slow down the bleeding? No.

So just what am I supposed to do. My options are bite my tongue and vote for the lesser of 2 evils or not to vote at all (at least for president). Now in reality not voting is probably not a big deal for me being that I live in NY State (not NY city) and I don't believe my vote has ever actually counted.

President Obama warns the 'unelected group of people' against overturning law, employing his strongest language yet.
Conservative Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, hit back at Obama's comments later Monday, saying in a statement that "it must be nice living in a fantasy world where every law you like is constitutional and every Supreme Court decision you don't is 'activist.' "
"Judicial activism or restraint is not measured by which side wins but by whether the court correctly applied the law," Hatch's statement said, adding: "Unfortunately these attacks come as no surprise, since the memo appears to have gone out from the president's campaign that criticizing the Supreme Court is going to help his re-election."

NROOF - I agree 100%. The problem is that, like me, I didn't vote in 2008 because I couldn't stomach McCain/Palin. First time I haven't voted. It hit me hard the day after when I realized not voting for McCain, was the same as voting for Obama. I'll vote for Romney, I'll do it with a knot in my stomach and holding my nose. As you said, he's not the answer, but he's 100% better than the alternative. If we think Obama was radical the last few years, wait until you see what he does when he doesn't have to worry about running for re-election again. I really think he's been laying low the last few years in order to get re-elected and really lay waste to this country his last 4 years...if he doesn't declare marshall law and over turn presidential term limits. If he did that...he's president for life because the bloodsucking leeches will keep voting him in as long as the checks keep coming.
