US Postal Service To Opt Out of Government-Provided Health Insurance

US Postal Service Wants Out Of Government-Provided Health Insurance

By Patrick Burke

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is currently working towards delivering a private health insurance plan to its employees and wants to opt out of the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan (FEHBP.)

“If provided the authority to do so, we believe that we can provide our employees and retirees with the same or better health coverage for significantly less cost, ” said Postmaster General and CEO Patrick Donahoe during his testimony to the House Oversight Committee.

If you support communism or OWS while you wear your corporate produced clothing, tweeting on your corporate produced cell phone, and sipping your corporate produced latte... just slap the sh!t out of yourself now and save the rest of us the trouble.

USPS has been on the Gov't health care plan even before the current President...

It was BushJrCare, ClintonCare, BushCare, and so on...

This is nothing new for the Post Office...though it would be great if they found ways to save money and invest in improving the system...like improving the package tracking system. If they did that and keep the prices reasonably low, like they are now, they may pull some of the FedEx and UPS clients.

You are so correct. It's just encouraging to see the USPS at least trying to cut costs. I read they are looking at closing smaller post offices and stopping Saturday deliveries. I don't know the answers, but I feel as if USPS should do whatever they have to (except load up on the old taxpayers again).
