6EX for Buddy Box
I want to pick up an inexpensive radio to keep with me so I can buddy box with more experienced pilots. There are several 6EX's on ebay i would bid for.

The Futaba site is unclear if there is a heli and a plane version. It seems like there is one, and it has plane and heli features. If so, is the throttle ratcheted or smooth? What else would be different than a dedicated heli Tx?

Thanks

I think the radio does both.as long as both radios are either 2.4 or 72 you should be able to buddy box.as far as the throttle goes, take the back off and slip some fuel tubing over the metal rachet spring. Then you can bend the spring slightly to get the desired throttle feel if you wish.it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission

you can remove it entirely but you will have no throtle resistance and it's not good to not have any,one good bump(if you dont have TH on)and it could be a disaster.it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission

I think it depends on when it was manufactured and weather it is 72mhz or 2.4. I bought a 72mhz in 2005. Then there was a heli and airplane version. A couple of years later I think they put heli and airplane software in the same radio. With 2.4 they have both heli and airplane software in the same radio. If it a 6EXAP it's airplane only.
