Anybody in the Waco/Temple/Hillsboro area that flies 500 and larger helis. It seems to be just plane people around here.

Ya...CeaderPark (or however ya spell it)...that's a pretty large helicopter club I believe. and I think that's as good as gets in this craphole.

I'm stationed at Ft. Hood, but I fly in my backyard---and am in afghanistan anyway....

Temple is just a plank club with a bunch old farts that would eye-F you away if you showed up with a heli... Oh, and there is a really cool hobbyshop in Waco...not too much heli-stuff except new eletric ones---but just a good ol-fashioned hobby shop none the less. and there is a hobby shop in Killeen---practically nothing but car stuff....carries SOME new electric heli stuff.

you can try the temple club--but I couldn't stand to be around them---I had AMA and they said my Raptor 90 was too dangerous...ya

hope that helps.

Ohh cedar park in the metroplex area, that's about 2 hrs north of me. Well, my backyard is 2 acres, with powerlines and trees, not much unless I fly high. The club in waco is old guys also with planes. They said bring it buy after the ama membership too. It's a 500 and 550, I'm looking for a place to open it up and breathe. Stay safe over there in afghan land. Was there in 09, a craphole and dustbowl from what I tried to forget.

I'll soon be moving back home to Waco, my family lives in China Springs. We have a lot of land out there in CS. I started a thread a while back about central TX fields/groups and there weren't many there either. Should start our own! I'll be flying daily on my land once I get back.

That's great to hear...always nice to have your own field, no rules and annual fees.

Yea, planned on it, trying to make 2 days of it. Hope to meet a pro flyer, maybe buy/learn a few things. How do you like flying the 700? I'm at the 550 size now with beastx.

Dj- I'd be happy to help you out with some things when I get there. Best advice I can give ya right now is to practice, practice, practice. Either the sim or the real thing.

BTW- are there any good local hobby shops around?

I love it, its an amazing machine, unbelievable power, and precision.
Its all stock, align 3GX. with the exception of the CC140HV.

Only real shop around is the Hobby Express, unfortunately we are under a relocating process right now, so the store is temporarily closed.

Yea 700e in a few yrs, still like the 500fbl, it has treated me very well the last 2 yrs since I began on this road. I have RF6 sim, awesome on my computer, graphics and new heli style remote. Hobby shops here..mostly plank stuff, e-flite heli beginner junk. It's in waco called hobby stop. I order from amain hobbies, helidirect, and ready heli since they give points. Just added up my $ spent there today, I was astonished at $2800 in 2 yrs.
