Ok tired of belt...ordered the torque tube....
Ok I've been flying for about 3 years and have gotten the bulk of my dumb thumbs out of my sytem on my previous 450 SE v2 which was a great heli BTW. I got a Pro with a belt because of all the stories of the TT striping and didn't want the headache of breaking the case open to change gears all the time. I have the belt and can not auto rotate at all. During tail taxing moves like nose in slides to my right (full speed to helis left), funnels, nick tocks, 4 point clockwise tic tocs, full forward/backward death spirals, hard flipping circles etc...I can hear the tail gear really start working hard and it wants to start blowing out occasionally thus causing me needless elevations in pucker factor.

I have mini-vbar with Outrage 5ns servo on the tail so the electronics are sound. No issues with normal flying, it's the advanced hard pounding stuff that I think the inefficiency of the belt comes out. I thinks it's time.

Now the first time I strip some of those little gears while flying, I'll be getting back on here and will be cursing the TT as I did on the 600 ESP...eek:

Rog, I'm running my 500 around 3000 and it flies nice and smooth.

I would be running 3500 - 4000 on a 450 for sure.

5 years ago they would have called people crazy for doing this but now it just seems natural.

Ok I'll turn it up a notch but the tail still seems to suck a bunch of energy from the overall system when it's taxed. I've got a few days till the TT comes in, but will probably switch it out anyway.

Yeah higher headspeed for sure. 3500+. KBDD tail blades by any chance?

Is that the new 12T slant pinion with 121T main?

It's got KBDD tail blads. Old regular straight pinion and it's the 150T main.

The belt is snug and got loose on me the other day to the point that it was stripping durning heavy loaded moves. I kept flying to discharge the battery without loading it, so couldn't comment on if being looser helped with the loading. I usually have it fairly tight though. Maybe loosen it some and see if it helps.
