Is Blade 400 a decent bird?
I was looking for a bigger electric heli on CL.. Just seeing what was out there.

I found this one a couple towns over:

Comes with everything in the pics.. It doesn't have a TX or battery - he said the battery blew up on the charger. He was asking $100 for this and I got him to agree to $80.

I know it's not the latest and greatest, but is it worth $80 + battery to chuck around? I already have Spektrum TX so all I would need is a battery...

What do you guys think?

I would say for $80 go for it. It might not be the best out there but you didn't pay $500+ either.and the blonde said "RECTUM, Hell damn near killed em!!"

So I got the 400 home and inspected it. Heli looks pretty good, no visible damage, everything appears setup properly.

The contents of spares:
- misc servo horns
- stock 3s charger
- 4x feathering shafts
- bag of misc hardware
- 4x main shafts
- tail shaft
- 3x flybars
- 2x aluminum booms / 1x CF boom
- 1x stock vertical stab / 1x 3D vert stab
- 1 set new wood blades / 1 set new align CF blades
- aluminum hub (stock?)
- 2x flybar paddle control rods
- 2x flybar frame arms
- 1x blade grip

It's going to be a long wait for the two battery packs I ordered!! I can't wait to spool it up! I will have $108 total into this bird with the batt packs.

There is a thread about what your worst bird is, one guy said it was the Blade 400. In the end it is all about expectations. Perhaps it is not suited for hot dog 3d but is a good hoverer and mild flier. For what you paid, if nothing else, it could be a great hood ornament spinner. I have one bird that I'm thinking about mounting on the wall as a fan.Champion,Magic,MiniBoy,Xcell60+50,Intrepid,Intrepid Gas,Baron30,Whisper,300X,mCPXv1v2,Concept,Nexus

$80 bird - looks like a good deal.
Good deal,

I got my 400 for $125 with 401 gyro and TX, although it was crashed, took another $80 to get it going.

Over all it's a good gird.

Happy flying.

The Blade 400 was the worst heli I've owned. But, for $80, I think you did fine. I would recommend a better tail gyro; that would help a lot.

Not bad, but be prepared to dump some $$$ into it. The stock electronics SUCK, and this has been documented ad infinitum.

Yeah, I got it up in the air, it flies but yeah, the gyro kinda sucks..

Not sure if I want to spend the cash and upgrade, or just sell the thing and put the money towards a 300x or 450x.
