Ok I think I know the answer to this question but I am going to ask just to be sure.

Is it necessary to have the shim between the clutch and fan on a raptor 30/50?

I am thinking the reason for it is 2 fold. A: clearance between fan and clutch to allow the shoes to do their job without hanging up on the fan hub. B: to locate the clutch in the bell at the correct place?

don't forget to use a dial indicator. It is well worth it and peace of mind.
