I'm getting ready to start buying everything and I can go any direction right now and I've seen the HB's. I am planing on a 270 for the engine. Has anyone one run into problems with either that would send you one way or the other? I see it looks like HWC uses more of the conversion kit parts and less "donor" parts are these better? I like the CF conversion better than the aluminum parts only for that dreaded crash resistance other than that I like the "Open Source". Lots of questions... but I know you guys have been around the block a few times.

Thanks Everyone!

Good luck!!

I chose the HB because of the motor and now it's running like a top.

I got the HWC 700 kit. So far so good. I wanted a kit that was light. I have a TRM g27 with a EI ignition. This has saved me a little weight. It now around 11 lbs 14oz.

Likes,
good main gear and pinion, great clutch, good cooling setup, pretty complete kit.

Cons
I would like a little larger tank,

I haven't had it very long, but so far its been a very good conversion.

HWC
Is it okay to use Align electronics (servos, gyro, regulator, etc..) in a HWC gasser set-up? Not sure what servos and gyro etc.. are there in the Limited edition kit. But, its all in there for a Nitro set-up.

Let me know.

Are you speaking from personal experience or is someone you know using Align electronics on a gasser?

You're asking for experience, doesn't mean everyone uses the same stuff and nothing out there is created equal, all different brands will have a different life span in general.

All we can tell you is out of the stuff that each of us tried, which one is the best. Doesn't mean BLS servos are #1 against everything, for me it just means they are #1 from everything else that I tried, that's all.

Someone needs to try align and bls servos for example, and then they can tell you where they stand against each other. It takes alot of time do this, we're talking hundreds of flights to see which one ends up lasting longer. What I listed above happened in 15 years of flying gassers, not possible even in 1 year's span.

Where do you stop? For me BLS seems to be a great place. Don't forget a servo failure can very well mean a crash, so I'm not planning on trying other cheaper servos to find out, because if they are not as good, what did I gain but a broken model?

On Align Servos, the 700N LE comes with (1) DS650 Digital servo and (3) DS610 Digital servos along with a GP750 Head Lock Gyro if you go with the KX018005 Flybar Kit. Does these look good in a Gasser or heavier Servos be better? I know sometime when you buy a package deal you find out later you'd been better off to get a basic kit and get better electronics. I would rather spend it now than regret it later.

I have had good success with Align 610/650 servos in electric, nitro and gas heli's on regulated voltage and straight LiFe (6+ volts). In a package, they are a real bargain. I never had an Align 610/650 fail except one time due to a hard crash. I have had a much more expensive Futaba fail in flight.

One reason to "upgrade" is if you elect to go HV, there are better choices. Some have had problems with the 650 on the tail, replaced with 251's and the tail did work better. This does seem to be heli and set-up specific.

Thanks Rbort and Rick~K

Yes Rbort, I have read your posts about BLS. In fact, I saw a photo somewhere (can't remember where) where you had rows of mechanical counters: recording flights, servo hours...? Do you have small children or are they not allowed in that room Lol! Just kidding

Has anyone used or had experience with using Align LE kit servos and electronics on a HWC, or, for that matter any gasser?

Rbort, just out of curiosity, how long have your jewel generators been tested/ been around?

Rbort, is there a phone number I can reach you on? please PM We could fix a time convenient to you, to speak ;o

thanks

Hey Carey how're you doing?
Nice to hear from you
They will work until they don't.
So tell me Carey what is the safe period to use the servos before they [U]even begin/ start[U] giving trouble?
Assuming we are talking percentage where 0% is new and 100% is a gonner.
Where is the 75%-80% in time period? (Again assuming 15 min flights x 6 flights a day) So how many minutes or hours or days? Life cycle of the servo, governor?

Am I making sense?
