I have a Futaba 9z that I have had since new and never used the trainer port. I decided to get back on the Phoenix sim and bought a DIN connection for the Simulator. It seems that I have to tilt the DIN plug slightly down in order for it to make connection which is annoying because if I move it it looses connection.

Is it a problem with the TX or the Plug? How can I tell?

The transmitter has sat for Several years in the case, it sounds like a contact problem more than a corrosion problem though.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Almost certainly a connection issue. Either:

1. Dirty male Din connectors on cable
2. Dirty female Din connectors on 9Z
3. Wire in cable to one of the Din pins has broken lose

I'm not a betting man but probably (3) from the symptoms.

Have a look in the 9Z repair manual as the Annexes have the information you need to test the connections. Download from:

Hey J!

question for you, are you going from a JR adapter (the headphone plug) to the Round 9 pin?

It was driving me crazy to use it with realflight if you moved just a bit... INVERTED right into the ground... .so much so I bought the square to round trainer cord. with that said, I understand that it's a different beast completely, but I know that Futaba 'DID' sell a Ol school round to Jr plug.

Hey man it's been a while..

I'm using the old skewl round plug din with phoenix. I tried a new plug and items the same thing. I might have to send my transmitter for service. Also someone said trim some plastic off so I can shove it in further. Might try that..
