Hello Helicopter Pilots,

We have some exciting news about our 3Gx. We now have a new firmware update version 2.0 that simplifies the use of the 3Gx. Easy to understand interface that enable access to all functionality. First upon opening you will notice that there is know longer specific model types. Also you can see starting points at a glance and make adjustments as you feel needed. This updated firmware will provide enhancements that you can feel and see in flight.

First thing you’ll notice:

Hovering stability, pilots doing hovering type maneuvers will feel a more linear control response. You have the ability to disable the cyclic pitch function to enhance hovering stability.

You can achieve stable fast forward flights regardless of helicopter size, and smooth transitions between maneuvers.

Now with cyclic and collective dampening function, for more stable flight and reduced power consumption.

Improved pirouetting compensation and added adjustment instruction, further improving pirouetting axial point.

With the above enhancement we have expanded the range of the 3Gx. The new soon to be released GPS module for the 3Gx will expand its functionality. We think you’ll enjoy the flight performance, and the expandability.

I saw that you have to setup dir in a specific pitch... Do you just add pitch in the swash menu after you exit dir?

Setup 8 degrees of cyclic when using 2.0 and 11-14 degrees of pitch (user preference) in the first step of the DIR using your swash AFR.

Be very specific when setting up the new firmware. I followed the instructions the first time and had zero problems. Please let the 3GX know where 8 degrees is in DIR mode. In addition show v2.0 where your endpoints are on fore and aft ele and only right in ail. I did thorough testing on one midsize bird with same blades and electronics. Definitely better in terms of flight performance, but u still have fiddle with some new combined settings to get it there. Took 3 flights to get it dialed in, fast ail n ele tic tocs were great, ff flight was good, tail was great after turning lock gain about 20-25 clicks above normal. Pyro rates on swash was n tail was def. smoother. The one thing that does not work is collective pitch acceleration, made no difference at full min. or max. Tested it in windy and calm weather, hovering seems to be the same although I spent more time flogging it than hovering, but u can settle it if you want, not quite VBar hov stability but decent. Flight performance was improved overall though. Do not forget to read the instructions on setup it is important, I read somewhere someone crashed cuz of improper set up, cheers!

Wow...what a nice day
The testing went great. The new software for the 3GX corrected some issues. This was the first flight and what a change. I sure like the way the helicopter feels now. The helicopters pirouetting flips and rolls have a better feel. Pirouetting flips are easer to land flat has a more flybar like feel, rolling maneuvers such as a rolling circles are more precise. The old software made the 3GX feel as if it had positive expo. My only issues I had was the fact I couldn't get the governer to work and if I really want to be picky on take off the Heli seems to have backwrd trim. Over all the very best flybarless system I've gotten the chance to fly. It made my day.

Maiden flight with my 500EFL DFC with all stock Align components other than the JR3500 I had for the tail. V2.0 software setup was not too bad.

Picked up into a perfect hover, right off the bench! Got a high gain wag on a 0 pitch diving turn so I reduced tail gain from 60 to 50. tail is solid in tail slides and fast backawrd flight. Flies incredible!

Swash mixes are at 45; 40 for pitch. 14 deg pitch, 8 cyclic. Might want a bit more aileron. I did get a funny elevator wag when I popped the sticks at the wrong time in a flip. Auto's went pretty well as long as I didn't get too fancy with the landing. Sliding it in sideways with low headspeed isn't a good idea.

Very happy with the 3GX V2.0 so far

Running the 600e pro on version 2.0. I'm very happy with it, tail stays solid, only thing I had to adjust via the software was the roll rate. It was a little too slow.

Yeah, buying from Align is a BIG risk, they make good parts but its like buying Hobby King lipos, if it breaks JUST swallow it, and man up, cause you will never get any help and doubt that they will ever honor warranty's. It is as if we are all in BETA testing environment and Align is just sitting back and watching us complain. Nice one Align. Some day when you guys get slapped with a Lawsuit you will stop using us as BETA testers.

Wow, it's still doing that. Check to see if it has a grounding mod like this picture.

I talked to Tim, and he told me that Align will consider that mod. I've never had any issue with the reset at all.

Align is not the best out there, but it's a good bang for the buck when setting correctly.

Mtdv I disagree
I think Align is the best out there. I love their products, their support and their willingness and timeliness to correct problems. I've had no problems with the 3G or the 3GX both in my opinion have been great gyros.

does that copper strip just ground the green board to the chrome case cover? Is this a problem with static buildup?

Yes, that copper strip ties the ground of green board to the chrome plated case.

There are many controveries of whether to isolate the chrome plated case or grounding it to prevent the static issue. I chose this way b/c it's easy for me to do and test at my workplace.
