Im sure there is a thread on how to do it but I cant find it.

I would prefer to use a GV-1, what are my options and how is it done? Do I need to drill the fan or stator for a magnet? Is there something that is plug n play off the stator??? thanks!

Yes you need to get a Stator-Gator that will work with your gas engine format either PUH or RC. They work very well with a GV-1 and are pretty much the predominate way guys choose to govern gassers.

If you wanted to use the governor in the VBar FBL control system, that will work to and I had best luck drilling and mounting magnets on the clutch bell and using an Align magnetic pickup into the VBar.

Search for Stator Gator or GV-1 setups here on the Gasser forums and you will get everything you need...

Governor
Search here for username "rbort" and subject "gv1" and you'll find a good document on how to set up the gv1.

You can either use the stock sensnor with the gv-1 and just mount it to face the crankcase of the motor where they flywheel is (I do this on my Spectra), or use a stator gator and plug it into the black wire from the motor (I do this on my 1005).

Either way no need to put any magnets in the fan, plenty of magnets in the magneto if you decide to go that route.

Using a regular sensor to pick up the magneto is the way to go. It's the most reliable and the least expensive. I've used both the Stator Gator and a regular sensor and the regular sensor works much better. I'm actually going to be pulling my SG off this weekend to switch to the standard sensor.
