So, I'm kicking around the idea of turning one of my raptors flybarless. I don't want to spend extra money going to a specialized head for it. What do I have to do to get what I already have to work on a flybarless system except of course purchasing the controller like a beastx?

I have always wondered why the conversion kits just don't come with just grips, links, and a follower. Why should you need to replace the hub? They all come as complete heads.

Been doing some looking around on heliproz and the conversion head is about $130, is it worth the extra money to just buy the head and not mess around piecing it together?

I tried a few different set ups and the cheapest by far was to lock the flybar seasaw square to the main shaft with Epoxy leaving the mixing arms, double links and pitch links as is, and then fit a swash driver from helikraft http://www.helikraft.com/Flybarless...8KL0153%29.html
This is the head with the locked seasaw both before and after after I changed the pitch arms to the helikraft ones on TT metal grips

You can also buy the helikraft grips, FBL arms and swash driver for a total of $75

The end result will be similar to this one useing the titan SE head with Ely.Q FBL grips and the top of the head cut off

And with my other heli with the PITA 3DX head

Thanks for that info NitroAl, going to have to look into that. So your saying if I buy the grips and swash driver I wont have to glue anything right? I am running Mavrikk metal heads, will they work this way also?

They sure will! From memory the maverikk heads are re-branded HobbyTaiwan head blocks and use the standard spindle and dampeners so the helikraft parts are a direct fit!

I used the Outrage head for $99. I didn't want to spend the money at first but gave in. I have about $450 into my Rappy fbl conversion but the transformation was well worth the cost. I had looked into a head conversion but concluded buying a head designed for the purpose was the better option for me.

I'll second the Helikraft grips, arms, and swash follower. I have an Erap30 FBL and now I'm switching over my glow 50 to an Erap50 FBL!

If you skip me I can't play!
