i just repurposed an old vbar for a used logo600SE i picked up.

the vbar is a full-size, black box, with NO spektrum plugs on the side. it's also still at v4 firmware.

just curious if this hardware supports the gov. i have no desire to upgrade to v5.2 if not--i'm fine with how the heli flies otherwise. the castle gov seems to make the tail act up though, so looking at other options.

if it ain't broke, break it.

You need to pay the money to go to V5.2 if you want the Vbar governor. After that you need some kind of sensor, either a phase sensor or a magnet. You probably want to wait a bit, they just updated the firmware for the CC to one that breaks all the current phase sensors, and the older firmware doesn't work well with the governor.

Have you messed around with the tuning options on the CC governor? I'm very happy with the governors on my CC escs. Just had to get the right settings and it holds really well, no tail issues.

Not really. This esc is a Phoenix 110HV and I'm not even sure the castle link firmware on it currently. Last I messed with the gov was with this same vbar unit on a trex 600 over 2 years ago. The gov just made the whole Heli erratic. Switching it back to endpoints made the problem go away. What firmware/settings are you using with the castle gov?

Either way I'd still like to know if this vbar supports gov.

Thanks.

if it ain't broke, break it.

You can update to the newer firmwares, they are much much much better than they used to be for governor performance. Hook it up to a castle link and update to the newest one below the 4.0 Beta and try it again. I'd bet you find that your tail issues go away.

And yes, your Vbar supports the governor if you upgrade the software, but you'd still have to upgrade the software in the ESC to make it work. May as well update the ESC first (since it's free) and see if you like it before dropping the cash on the Vbar upgrade.

No kidding. I had 70 deg without a cloud in the sky yesterday accompanied by 40 gusting to 55mph.
