This happened in Arizona during a shoot of the Korean version of Top Gear. Apparently the 2 pilots are fine, heli is toast. Old retired AH1 Cobra. Sorry if it's a repost.

Initial reports eluded to mechanical. They're luckier than the old gal who won 300+ million today!

Do you think the pilot might have set his ESC for hard cut off instead of soft cut?
That Stig is one hell of pilot to survive a botched auto.

Wow, they are very lucky. That was a pretty strong impact but not a lot of speed.

Probably a case of pilot trying to show-off too much.

Yeah right

Glad the pilot is OK. Didn't look like anyone could walk away from that.

They can just tow that right over to Los Angeles and I think there's someone there that can repair it for something like 50 bucks an hour since it's fuel based and not electric. Could also provide some upgrades at the same time.

The associated news release pointed out mechanical problems. I would think it was a flight control or hydraulic issue by the way they crashed, having flown that particular helicopter years ago.

Just what lead you to think they were showing off? Whenever someone posts a video here of someone hotdogging, no one says they were showing off, they just say that they're a great pilot or have huge balls.

Go figure.

Quite a few helicopters and airplanes have been lost due to piloting error. If that programme is anything like the british Top Gear they take quite a few risks, one presenter was nearly killed recently in a jet powered car when it crashed. They kept him in an induced coma before he recovered.
