Hello all,
I am very new to the rc world and this is my first time ever posting in any kind of forum, I usually just read through them and try to fingure things out my self. I am only intetested in scale building and flying lazy and relaxing. Where I live everyone is into the 3D and have no time to answer scale questions. I was turned away from one helicopter club and told they had no time for beginners, the local hobby shops have no experience with scale and one even said there is no money in scale and he really didnt even want to work on my stuff so... here I am and I have many questions (mostly tuning)and would be greatful for any help.

I have a blade 400 with a 440 moter,35amp esc,9 tooth pinion and a Kds flymentor system inside a hughes 500e fusalage. I run 2200 20c batteries and get maybe 5 min of flight. I have come a long way with the build but still feel there is much more i havent done.

My first questions is hopfully simple. What blades and legnth would be the best for what I am looking for? I went from the eflite 325 woodies to 325 carbon from hobby king and they are a bit shorter. From what I read they need to be longer for the lift and stability.

greatful for any help

questions
Well for 1, go with either Curtis Youngblood, Mavrikk, SAB, or Thunder Power 325mm carbon main blades, will be more stable and can handle the lift your looking for. If you go with a longer blade, you may have to upgrade your motor and ESC. Next you need a good battery with a 30-45C rating, get a good name brand as you don't want to take a chance with your investment, and will give you a little more power.

Now this is just my opinion as I am a little new to scale. I have been working on my MD500e 50 size for 2 years now. A darn good down payment on a new car....

Also if you have stock servos and gyro in it, I'd look at swapping the servo's out for maybe Hitec HS56MG's on cyclic, add 401 gyro and Futaba S9257 or Align DS420 tail servo. You will have much better tail control and won't be changing gears on every hard landing.

Just call me Farmer Brown. 'Cause I know how to really plant 'em

Thanks for the advice and I know what you mean I have spent quite a bit on tools and parts but I am having a good time however, I do wish I could find someone around here to fly with and learn a bit more from.

I have already upgraded both the motor and esc and have also added 325 carbon fiber blades but they are actually shorter than my stock woddies by just over 9mm. This is prompted me to start asking questions. So if longer could be a solution I did find these blades which are said to fit 450 and are 360mm carbon fiber. They are a bit longer and wider than the stock and come in two different versons, Symmetrical and a 3d airfoil design which rasies another question, which would be better for scale? What your opinion on these.

I did check out the blades you suggested and they are really nice but I couldnt find all black and don't really want to spend that much until I get a feel for how its going to fly.

Great build pics, If this ones doesent break me I hope to move up into the larger helis.
